Today I’m reviewing Church Bells by The Lemon Twigs.
This is one of the shortest songs I’ve reviewed but to me, it’s one of the best. I wanted to explain why.

Thank you for highlighting the unrivalled talent of the Lemon Twigs. Their albums just get better and better. I had a similar reaction when I heard this. I literally cried with joy! Their complex and sophisticated melodies, harmonies and arrangements combined with their sweet voices create a happy retro vibe for the listener. They are musical geniuses! Their music makes the world a better place.

I'd love the Lemon Twigs to have a bigger audience.. the problem is the radio in the UK. I don't know if they get a lot of radio play in other countries? I first heard them on 6 music with 'If you give enough' from Go to school ..and had to find more. Their last two LPs are my favourites in recent years. Thanks for Interviewing them Justin.

I love the LT, you switched me on to them years ago with your channel and last week in Leeds i met them after the gig and told them i saw them first on JHRA….then a week later you met up with them.

Reacting to the latest thing might get some clicks but the real meat and bones of your channel are your humour and passion for music. As a guitar player I really appreciate your deep dive into the arrangement, its the little details that an average listener just doesn't pick up on. It gives you an appreciation for the thought and effort that was put into the track, not just in the writing and performance but in the production as a whole.

I saw Justin Hawkins at the Lemon twigs gig in Brighton last week. I never saw band where they all switched instruments a couple of times throughout the show. Very cool!

Been about a month since i first heard of these fellas. I was bedridden for three weeks (certainly not a big amount of time by any means, i know, and am thankful for), and was just making my way back into the world when i first heard the track Sweet Vibration, a song about finally being free from a toxic relationship, as far as im sure of, but for me it was very much suitable as a simple celebration of returning to life.

of course this prompted me to check out the whole record, and yeah, after a month of basically listening to almost nothing else (shouts out to Brutalism by IDLES; loved that you mentioned them here as well; TANGK is incredible), I'm ready to say this is probably my favorite record in years. Church Bells in particular is such a wonderful song to break down and go over how brilliant their craftsmanship is.

I'm also trying to get my friends to check them out. My musician friend is a self-labeled "snob," and largely dismisses most music if it has vocals, but i do know he appreciates the dynamic mixing and traditional instrumentation the Twigs offer up here. And we both agree that it is very good for artists today to make music that could work as a stepping stone for younger listeners to begin going back and appreciating all the wonderful songwriters of the past.

Be it The Lemon Twigs or Greta Van Fleet, a band we both are admittedly kind of down on (neither of us were ever very big led zeppelin fans), or hey, guess what! The Darkness is a fucking sick band too for this reason! so thanks for everything, man! I'm gonna have to check some more of your channel out now!

I think the twigs are too mercurial to call them "cosplay". The latest and previous album tend to have the same pastiche. But the albums before the latest 2 are quite different in style. I love their music. I am very excited to see them Oct 11.

Hi Justin, imagine The Lemon Twigs supporting OASIS on one of their gigs? I’m sure Noel would see it makes sense x BTW Nice use of Naive Melody. We all Talking Heads… don’t we? X Kisses of love xx ❤️❤️❤️🐈🐈‍⬛💋🦊🦔🎃🥸 xxx
