When it comes to my top bands itā€™s hard to choose a single album as the best. Their sounds changes so much that itā€™s hard to pick one over the other. Arctic Monkeys is the youngest of my favorite bands. Maybe in the future people will appreciate the different styles theyā€™ve tried and will try. Personally I enjoyed The Car but itā€™s definitely their weakest. Depending on my mood I actually prefer Tranquility over the others.

Its scary as fuck to change something you know. I always have a respect for people who not only are willing, but do it regardless of ā€˜expectationā€™. Such a freeing way to live.

Funnily enough I was introduced to them through TBHC and thought it was a joke record at first. Being American, and a rock lover, I had never heard of them much outside of their name a couple of times. I fell in love with the sound of that album though, and it's still one of my favorites to just bust out and relax too now and again. Going through their back catalog was a trip, and they remain firmly cemented as one of my favorite acts of all time.

Arctic monkeys sre THEE absolute best example of a band that lost their way. Im all for bands evolving but the modt recent drivel they mske is sooooooooooo bad it really taints the absolute gold they one created.

The Arctic Monkeys need to be locked in a room and shown pictures of garages and rocks fucking Clockwork Orange style until they figure out that they're a rock band and not a lounge act. Their last 2 albums are prime examples of how to kill your sound entirely.

Change is good but Arctic Monkeys' sound has changed so much that Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not and The Car are so drastically different that it doesn't feel like the same artist.
Also, one of my favourite elements of their earlier songs was the instrumentals. In their later works, it feels really empty and without much instrumentals.

Interesting that your argument here is that change is good when you kinda blasted Coldplay for doing the same thing, the only difference is that Coldplay changed to be more appealing to a bigger audience instead of smaller

    'Cause everybody's got their box
    Doing what they're told
You pushed my faith near being lost
But we'll stick to the guns
Don't care if it's marketing suicide
    We won't crack or compromise

I believe that for the last 2 albuns alex has been paying more attention to the health of his voice. He never sang technically before and now he seems to "whisper" more, or sing with less strain, at least in studio. Think he may be taking classes or advice from teachers or phonoaudiologists

It now makes sense how they reached that Humbug sound, given their collaborators! First time I listened to My Propeller, my jaw literally dropped. What a banger opener that perfectly hits you with the style change.
