I mean, I don't think it's that difficult for a guy to figure out whether the date is going well or not. When you have had some successful first dates, you clearly know when things are not going well, despite women's tendency to pretend that everything is going well and that we'll meet again.

In addition to this, when the time for the farewell comes and I know she's not interested and they start with the usual "let's keep talking" I just say that I'm not interested since I didn't feel any chemistry, spark, and that I think it was the same for her. Not in a rude way, but without BS. Most of the times the story ends there, but sometimes my "rejection" strikes a nerve of hers, and even though I knew she was not interested, she tries to win me over and set up a new date. Most of the times I don't accept it tho, since she's just doing it for the sake of her ego.

Although be yourself is kind of horrible advice, if they only like you for what you're pretending to be, then whatever you have probably isn't gonna last very long. So I guess its kind of good advice long term but not really effective short term
