Blackberry Smoke are a real favourite of mine, fantastic band, all of their albums are excellent, never heard anything by Black Oak Arkansas before but after listening to a few songs on their YouTube I might buy this little boxset 😄

Saw them open for Grand Funk in Seattle 1972. Didn't much care for them. Still don't, but to each their own. Thanks for the heads up on Blackberry Smoke. Looks like I'll be on a deep dive.

I live about 15 higway miles form Black Oak, Arkansas. I also have met 2 of the original members, Jim Dandy Mangrum and Rickey Lee Reynolds.

Black Oak's first album was fantastic. I saw them live in 1973. The first album was the best and the following albums started a slide in quality. That box set has the best from the band. As a young high school student in the US in 1971, discovering the first album was one of those moments that changes your world just a bit.

Saw them in 1978 as special guest to REO Speedwagon on their Tune A Fish album tour. After BOA's set I overheard people talking discussing whether they should leave because they hadn't heard of REO. I then saw them headline at a theatre converted to a concert hall in 1979. Great show got some good slides taken as well

BOA yeah, guilty pleasure .in my radio days, early 80s they played at a bar in Myrtle Beach. Band included Tommy Bolin’s brother John.( They played ‘Teaser’). A couple of my radio crew went backstage ; reported huge hot-dog-size lines of cocaine ready for imbibing ….

Love BOA. Highest grossing live act of the 70's. Saw them too many times to count. If you never caught them live you missed out.

I seen Black Oak Arkansas in 1976 and I just saw Blackberry Smoke this past July. Blackberry Smoke are on their 25th anniversary tour this year, they put on a great show.
