Dude, I don’t think you got the joke and I don’t think you’re focusing on the right thing I mean, you may not be taking the seriously but it’s us against them and if you’re not in the cult, you shouldn’t be wasting your time denigrating people who are also preventing people from getting into the cult, you know what what I mean

Doesn't he remember the hippie generation when everyone enjoyed free love, acid and drove around in WV combi vans, went to Woodstock and messed about. Bill just forgot being young.

I'm Gen X so I remember him back in the 90s when he got started with his show. I hated him then and never understood what everyone thought was so great. And I say that as someone who was a left leaning centrist then (today I'm straight up leftist), his target demo.

Listen mustache man, did you even think before making this video?

Let’s go down your road for a sec. So people don’t want to work and shouldn’t have to spend their youth working and should be able to enjoy life. Now, if everyone has that attitude, how much do you think will actually get done? Starting to get the picture? There ya go!!!
This only works if we all buy into the social contract. I don’t understand your short sighted views. You SEEM intelligent.

3:42 I know this video is two years old, and I'm sure you didn't mean it this way, but given that Maher is Jewish, calling him a "New York elite" is, I believe, antisemitic. This is because, if I recall correctly, the word "elite", especially paired with a geographical area, is a common antisemitic dogwhistle. Again, I'm sure it was an accident, but in my opinion, this is a good example of why it's not worth it to call any person an "elite" outside of like, gaming contexts where that's an established skill-based term. Anybody could be Jewish and you might not know, and it's just too big of a chance that you might be accidentally antisemitic when you say it. Just my advice for the future.

He's just balancing out so people won't call him too far left or too far right. This statement about influencers is just to pacify the right. 🍼🍼🍼

All those “good jobs” he’s talking about require college degrees that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars (high school graduates don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars)

My husband is extremely skilled for his age. He can solder, weld, code, works with electronics and woodworking and he's going to school for automation technology. He's made his own board games, video games, a bedside table, mechanical arm thing, a complicated dragon thing for a costume, and on and on. I'm not just saying this because I love him, he's exceptionally talented. He got fired from his last job cause they wanted someone better. A job that had him moving trash cans and other facilities work that was not that difficult. He literally did nothing wrong and was good at the job, but they wanted someone better (to be paid less than $20 an hour). He was unemployed for a month applying for jobs every day. The one job that emailed him back and even offered him an interview didn't hire him because he was overqualified. He applied for idk know how many jobs. I know he applied for like 20 in one day. The job market sucks. There are literally fake job postings because the government pays the companies to make listings and they use it as a form of advertising. One reason people turn to being an influencer is because you don't need to jump a bunch of hoops and pray to get interviews for. It's a more equal playing field. You can create videos for literally anything. You can be kinda good at something and make videos about it and earn money from it. Of course people want that job. And you don't have to worry about shitting corporations and managers who don't care about you and will fire you just because.

I have to say, I agree. Not just about the segment, but your takedown of Maher in general. I've watched/listened to the show since it's start, with some breaks, mostly just because I'm a bit of a political hobbyist. Not proud of that, just there it is. The guests and topics are current and the outlook is generally on the left, so it goes down easy. But when I've tried to watch Maher's standup specials, I just don't find them funny. His whole act, both standup and the shows is a simple formula. But I mean, that's fine, and so was Johnny Carson in a way, and he's definitely put in his time to create this formulaic money machine in his golden years where he gets to be the smug expert on everything and guardian of common sense.
But I really hadn't thought of it before, so thanks for the video!
