I'm super confused by the title of this video. Am I the only one not seeing the connection between "interesting old shit" and "should never have been opened"??

The messiah, son of David was supposed to be Jesus. "Son of" just means that King David would be in his ultimate paternal line. The thing that's always confused me is that Jesus' lineage to David was through Joseph, but supposedly Joseph wasn't his father?

I love the idea of a monk or someone just sitting behind their desk having a laugh going “they’re gonna be so confused when they find this in the future”
Nowadays people also sometimes go to great lengths for a prank

If people nowadays would do it
People back then would as well

I find it plausible that there was a orictice similar to speaking in tongues, but writing in an inspired language that arrives at the author through esoteric means. Or it was just a meme among scribes to show somebody a book written in a fake language (medieval rick roll)

There is the language of words, and the languages of music, rhythm, action, and dance. The non verbal language is powerful and hopefully universal. If you're fed up with cloudy weather you can blow a hole in the clouds.

You know what's fun? Realizing that people from history did dumb shit like make up secret languages and wrote fictional stories and now we dive into a rabbit hole of why, without ever answering "just because" or "it was funny"

Gnostics believe that the god typical Christians worship is actually the rejected son of a higher god who is taking his misery out on humans because they contain a small seed of divinity inside of them because of hijinks. That's the knowledge that is achieved which leads to enlightenment.

Hmmmm … Entertaining – for sure… informative ??? Accurate ??? – Well hopefully.. Kind of like the way Joe makes complex subjects " accessible " Hopefully he won't be another victim of "audience capture" In the meantime I am intrigued enough to subscribe … also like the way I can fast forward through the "Brilliant" advert..

Consider "The Epic of Gigamesh". Written about 2500 BCE to me certainly demonstrates that if 45000 years ago we were writing creative literature (No, I have not made a study of this work), then certainly someone could have 'found some old linen lying around' and some educated aristocrat could have written something 'on a goof'.

The flowers are polygons the leaf stems are sequences of cosines and the written content is arbitrary. I saw that story when I was a teenager. I would not waste my time on it. Sorry, did I give the game away>
