On January 1st, 2014, I uploaded the first “Things You Might Not Know” video. Once the initial rush of videos settled down, I aimed for one video a week, and while there have sometimes been guest videos and occasional blatant filler: to my own satisfaction, I never missed a week. But now, it’s time to stop.
I never got to space. I never got to the ocean depths. And I never got to fly off into the sunset, harnessed underneath a helicopter. I couldn’t find an excuse for that one.

Looking back on the comments on this video, it's amazing just how many massive YouTube creators have so clearly been influenced by Tom. This comments sections feels like a "who's who" of youtube, and not just in the educational space that Tom usually sits, but entirely across the spectrum.

Hi Tom I used to watch your videos starting back in about 2016 and boy has the time flew I hope to see some more videos with you in them but I understand the strain it's taken on you and your family but I will always remember taking time in the evening when I get back to the barracks when I was in the military and watching one of your couple of minute long videos and absorbing heaps of information and to this day my favorite video of yours is two drums and a cymbal jump off a cliff and the timing in that video couldn't have been better take care in life have fun I hope to see you on my device screen again someday
