The DARK side of ROB HALFORD

Metal Pilgrim | August 11, 2026

We all know Rob Halford is a legendary vocalist of Judas Priest, but in reality, he’s much more than that. And throughout his career, he’s been a member of many other bands. So today, let’s take a look at all of them.

It’s kinda hard to believe that, but back in his childhood, Rob Halford didn’t actually have that much interest in music. I mean, yeah, he did start singing in a school choir when he was just eight years old, but it wasn’t until his teens when music started playing a bigger role in his life when he joined his first ever band at the age of 15. Well, if we can even call it a band. The name of the act was Thack, and it was fronted by his schoolteacher. And in it, the boys performed cover versions of The Yardbirds, Free, Jimi Hendrix, and The Rolling Stones songs.

Yet, even that project Rob didn’t actually take too seriously, and he definitely did not think that he will ever connect his life to music. And it wasn’t until Rob graduated school and he started working as a lighting assistant and performed a couple of roles on stage in Wolverhampton theater that he realized that it was his destiny to become an actor and perform in front of an audience on stage.

I love Fight's War of Words. I played the cassette until it broke (probably from fast forwarding through all the blank space to get to the bonus track), and still have the CD I bought as a replacement.

And Nostradamus was not a bad album at all.

My favourite Side project from Rob is obviously Ressurrection and its just the best classic Judas Priest late 80s to early 90s with Painkiller and Ram It with something from every album in the song writing. This is just the best Judas Priest and best comeback of Priest than themselves with Angel Of Retribution. Its so good and i just love that album and im glad i listened to it not that long ago actually and your right its the best of any member from one of our popular and favourite metal bands and the highlights for me its Night Fall and Cyberworld and Robs vocals destroys especially in the title track and the intense scream at the end and on the tour with the live album released. He sounded like the best just like on the Painkiller album and that was just sick and that is also one of the best live albums also. People should listen to Ressurrection to get some of the best writing that Judas Priest had just like on Painkiller for example. Its like Painkiller 2.0 and as i said its a more comeback of Priest than Angel Of Retribution but still a good album tho. Listen to Ressurrection everybody and i love it and i have forgotten about and need to listen to it again. It was so long and the live album too. Live Insurrection. Ressurrection is so fun. Im going to listen to it now and the live album too for it. šŸ˜ˆšŸ™‚šŸ¤˜šŸ”„šŸ’Æ

Both Rob’s voice and his song writing capabilities are truly dynamic. They have made him an Icon in the music industry. No matter with or without Priest I am not able to find a song or album that don’t care to hear.

    Long Live The Lodger.
