Kim Cattrall’s Emotional Reunion With Her Secret Long Lost Family | Who Do You Think You Are?
Liverpool-born Kim Cattrall is determined to solve a family mystery that has endured for more than 70 years. When Kim’s mother, Shane, was eight years old, her father disappeared. George Baugh walked out on his wife and three young daughters, and they never heard from him again. Now Kim wants to find out what happened to her grandfather and to resolve this mystery for her mother’s and aunts’ sake, as well as her own.
Kim begins her investigation in Liverpool. Her mother is over from Canada visiting her sisters, so it’s the perfect opportunity for Kim to get them all together and find out what they know about their missing father. The sisters don’t even know what their father looked like. In the only picture they have of George, he is an indistinct shape peering out from behind a curtain. They are desperate to know what happened to their father.
Kim has very few clues to go on, apart a newspaper article from the 1980s which mentions her grandfather’s sister and the address she was living at then. Turning detective, Kim pieces together, bit by bit, what happened to her grandfather. Ultimately the trail leads to a shocking and painful discovery.

My mother was from a family of 12 from Liverpool during that same period the youngest boy left for Canada 🇨🇦 and never returned and never spoke to his family ever again- in 1995 I tracked down his daughter Janis and we struck up a great connection I consider her one of the best cousins and I have loads of Irish cousins too but she is Ace ❤

It’s refreshing to ‘meet’ Kim albeit under these circumstances. I can relate to some of the emotions she has experienced. My own experience was I never met my biological father and by all reports he was not a nice person due to the demon alcohol. Such is life. I agree with others who say that Kim is lovely. She has a kind of serenity about her.

This isnt uncommon and is still happening in 2026. Men walking away from their children and starting again with no cares or thoughts about the children they leave behind. My dad did the same and when I found him at 34 the 1st thing he said was that he didnt have any money if thats what I was after and not to tell his new family because they knew nothing about me. The pain that causes is beyond measure. But I walked away and never looked back I also made sure those selfish cycles were broken.

George's actions are more common than you would think. My paternal grandfather left my dad and his siblings at Ellis Island, waiting for him. He went to San Francisco to start a new life without them.

I remember watching this the first time & shed a few 😢… the devastation of their father leaving has left deep pain, no matter their ages, respectfully. 🤦🏽♀️

Kim’s mom is a bad mamma jamma. She refused to shed a tear for that man. She remembered him the most and was able to forgive but she’s not going to bother shedding a tear for him.
