Remembering Leslie Jordan: A Lifetime of Laughter & Loving Service
You probably recognize Leslie Jordan for his role on Will & Grace. But long before he became famous for that, he spent years toiling in thankless bit parts, suffering with shame and guilt for being gay, spiraling into drug and alcohol abuse that nearly destroyed him. It wasn’t until one night in a jail cell with Robert Downey Jr that Leslie Jordan turned his life around, and embraced his true self for the first time at the age of 42, turning his one-time shame into the secret of his success.

My God I miss him. He made getting through COVID much easier. His posts were the funniest. I commented on one of his posts that even though I’m not gay and female we still need to get married. He replied with neither a yes nor no but that my comment lifted his spirits.

Did a report eventually come out confirming whether or not he was intoxicated when he had the accident?

He brought such joy to so many, how sad that he was caused pain, just for being himself

Not all gay people want to be called queer. Stop generalizing that word is acceptable.

I was good friends with Leslie. I met him in Austin TX while he was there for a convention. He is one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. I miss him. ❤️

I love that story about his father and the doll. He spent all that time feeling shame for no reason at all. So many of us love you Leslie Jordan and you are missed. RIP ❤

I'm in tears at his story w the straight men. I was really into AA for 20+ years, and some of the strongest, most unconditional love and support I've experienced came from those rooms. The best people I've known in my life are other recovering alcoholics and addicts.

We had something called Gender Group when I was in rehab, I was terrified of telling the guys I was gay, a lot had just come out of prison and were there as a part of their probation etc etc. It was rough, but I needn't have worried.

"the most off-putting people are the ones who try and pretend to be something they are not"-Leslie Jordan. If only our strict lawmakers could stop pretending.
