Garfield, the lazy orange cat, was extremely popular. After debuting in newspapers across the country Garfield became a phenomenon.
It was only a matter of time before movies and TV came calling. What started as a series of specials on CBS in the early 80’s eventual turned into GARFIELD & FRIENDS.
Pairing Garfield with another comic US Acres was a good idea but US Acres now is barely a blip in history.

I learned the true meaning of Christmas from Garfield: "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme!" I remember that got a big laugh from my mom. As Hoosiers, we weren't sure who to be more proud of: Jim Davis, Michael Jackson, or Orville Redenbacher.

This cartoon is so underrated, but it was waaaaay ahead of its time with its humor, edge and references. I actually was really disappointed when I read the Garfield strips because they lacked a lot of things from the show and have an entirely different vibe.

Garfield is still a big part of my life. I read the books as a kid in the early 80s, adored the specials, loved Garfield and Friends, and a number of years ago (2011) my fiancee and I had a pod cast where we interviewed Desiree Goyette-Bogas. She sang "So Long Old Friend" from Here Come's Garfield for us, and WOW to hear it live was incredible. That is a tear jerker. Desiree and her husband Ed Bogas did all of the music for the specials and G&F (except US Acres). Fun Fact Desiree was once married to Lee Mendelson.

When I was a kid, I loved the first and last 7 minutes of this show, and treated those stupid singing animals as part of a long commercial break in the middle.

I really disliked US Acres. I'd go play and hope to catch Garfield when it was on. It annoyed me so much as a kid.

As a kid I always hated the farm parts. I just wanted the whole show to be Garfield
