After exploring most of Earth, venturing into space and exploring other planets, stars and galaxies seemed like an exciting, and even obvious next step. But the deeper we look, the more the universe reveals a hidden barrier between our Solar System and everything else around it. From the vast empty space, to the laws of physics themselves, there are many reasons why the dream of space travel might stay just a dream.

What is stopping us from reaching the stars? Why does space become more dangerous the faster you travel, and could even advanced alien civilizations be trapped around their home worlds?

    Humans brains are organical neuron connections that in a specific way make you “you”. Build a machine to store this. Put in on a nanometer small computer chip and build a as small as possible rocket to get us closer to the speed of light more realistically. Then build the “robot” bodies that have been invented already on those suitable plantets you’ve reached and you’re far more likely to get somewhere less lame.

    Or build our real lige star trek universe and we don’t have to go anywhere else

    Who ever is advising you is probably the reincarnation of the people who proved it 0:23 was impossible to fly; so ignorant. Let’s say we never solve faster than light travel, all we have to do is create a space colony with a million people and set it loss into the unknown, they may go through a few generations before reaching another star system, but there will be no trouble getting people to sign up for the trip. This is only one alternative, there are others. You are probably right about no one alive seeing this happen, but even that might be wrong. Science is moving pretty fast.

    We need to use antigravitational technique in the aircrafts to be able to manipulate spacetime, thus getting to our destinations without to much problems. Alterntative something associated with quantum physics

    Stopped watching when you falsely claimed that we could build a rocket that could achieve 20% of the speed of light. You didn't consider what it would take to do that. Robert Frisbee looked at what it would actually take using, you know, physics and stuff.

    The top stage is 400,000 tons, the size of an Ultra-large crude oil carrier, for the engine (not crew compartment). It has 165,000 tons of anti-matter that would cost $62 trillion per GRAM. Total cost? $10 Septillion, 21 billion times more than the total wealth on Earth. It's 700 km long. That's longer than the distance from Los Angeles to San Francisco. Why? To get the crew far enough from the engine that the energetic gamma rays released from the anti-matter reaction wouldn't fry the crew without having to add thousands of tons of shielding. It had a total of 100 tons of payload (crew compartment, crew, and provisions). That's about the weight of a loaded 737. It would take 50 years to reach Proxima Centauri, the closest star, NOT 20 years (you accelerate to 0.2C for the first half of the distance but then have to decelerate for the remainder). The total weight of provisions loaded onto a nuclear submarine is about 1 ton per person per year, not counting oxygen. So a 50-year voyage would need ~50 tons of provisions per person. So we're talking a spacecraft that would cost 21 billion times more than the total wealth on Earth to carry MAYBE two people to Proxima Centauri in 50 years.

    Next time look at your assumptions more carefully.

    Tbh, I'd rather set foot on a Mars like planet with my gear on, than an inhabited planet with oxigen rich atmosphere. As I tentatively take off my helmet I'm soon to die. Because it'll also be teeming with bacteria and viruses that have evolved without you. When a virus that's harmless to a cow jumps to you it's a bad end. It's evolved to survive inside the cow, but knows not how to deal with you, so gruesome future follows, usually short. With everything alien and first breath containing countless pathogens probably, the chance something goes wrong escalates massively. So death will be highly unpleasant and torturous life brief. Dead planets seem like paradise.

    I have the hope that humanity will achieve a method of extreme distance travel in the future. I don't think it will be anytime "soon", but it also wouldn't be so far off.

    All it really takes is someone to discover a way to create or harness the energies that are currently only theoretical, like exotic matter, so that something we've already known is mathematically and physically possible, like wormholes, to be created with intention and accuracy. As of today, we don't have the slightest clue where to begin, but perhaps sometime in the next generations, someone will.

    Once somebody figures out warp drive or worm hole creation and it's off to the races, more or less. We'd be able to travel practically anywhere we wanted with wormholes, and warp drive would allow super-distance trips to be done in seconds or minutes, all without the drag of time relativity.

    I think it will happen a lot sooner than we think, yet I think it is also pretty confident to say it won't be for at least another few generations. I think the entire quantum field of science needs to do a lot of catching up if we have any realistic hope of figuring out ways to harness extreme energy levels with any ease.

    As much as AI sucks the reality is that a starship operated by an AI could continue on into space for near infinity or until systems begin to fail. If there are advancements in AI and we sort out our problem with cryogenics then we could send humans into space in a freezer and an AI system could wake them up when it finally discovers a habitable planet in a few thousand years.

    Imagine going back to the 1200's, and telling people about how it's possible to fly around the world in less than a day. I imagine they wouldn't believe me, and that would be based on known facts from the society I was speaking in. My point, the human race doesn't know enough about the entire universe to put periods at the end of these sentences. 🤷

    We have invented things today that was more crazy than science fiction 100 years ago. There have newer been as many enginers in the world as today. We have AI that are going to help us create amazing things within the next 20 years and more. Just wait.
