What if I told you that there is a force that keeps you from experiencing the totality of what’s around you. It keeps you blinkered, narrows your attention to only what it wants you to see. It edits your perception in real time, colours the world so you fit neatly in with the crowd. Using half-truths, recreations, and outright fabrications, it steers you through life while insisting, every step of the way, that what you’re seeing is real.
You can’t escape it. You can’t out-think it. Because it isn’t working against you from somewhere else. It’s a part of -you-. It IS you.
This is one of the most terrifying theories in neuroscience you’ll ever come across.

The part about social hallucinations (7:02) really put things into perspective for me—I’ve definitely experienced that 'contagious' feeling in group settings. I shared some personal reflections on managing these social pressures in my own life on my channel recently, for anyone feeling the same way!

The title of this episode….Dude big business and big government figured this out years ago.
Especially in the internet age, thats how they manipulate people to buy stuff they dont need.
How the LGBT movement got started and injected itself into everything.
Etc. humans are tribal and are easily compromised.

I am going through a personal experience that is deeply affecting my experience of reality. Almost like it feels that the reality I am experiencing is one specifically for me. In other words, it is convincing me that solipsism, as absurd as the concept seems, could indeed be true. I am very rational and trying to process this entire experience through this rationality.

This video has a lot of good points but a lot of problems but I'm going to stop you on 'it doesn't smell' we're picking up molecules with our nasal membranes actual real things that actually exist. What we can say is 'what you smell probably isn't what your friend next to you smells but both of your brains have this molecular structure filed away as bad' our senses our real things. Like if you are worried you aren't seeing right you can use your hands to confirm your sight, in all but the most invasive mental illnesses your hands will indeed confirm shape and texture as transmitted by the eyes. Same with taste, our senses are built the way they and only takes in what it does because all those senses are working together and reinforcing reality. Also got to say as an autistic woman the insistence that yes you too will stop and do what everyone is doing is, um, not true at all. Ever. Now we can have some fun talking about what that disconnect means when you compare NT to ND people, but the assume that everyone will be all on board with mass hysteria is not true.

11:09 I didn't believe it, till there were one at McDonald's slowly walking towards the car.
TBF, it could have been any reason, as all they did was walk, and could have just been walking to enter the store. But hearing about it, and seeing the clown, I freaked out. Mom/the driver saw the clown, but was less worried than me. (Despite her being afraid of clowns)

We react to our environment. Other people are part of that environment so, when they are stressed, you live in a less comfortable and safe environment and your emotions react to that.

Admittedly, I'm easily distracted, adhd & busy doing stuff while listening, anyhoo, I wanted to know how, back in the 80's, my friend (4 years younger & male) & I saw the same thing, that wasn't there??
I was driving up a hill, at night, out in the sticks, no street lights, probably doing 50mph (55 zone) but blind hill, so I'd slowed a bit & finally my headlights caught a dog laying, head up in the middle of my lane!
'68 Camaro, drum brakes all around, can't use other lane bc I can't see if anybody is coming so I hit the brakes!
I can't stop in time & the dog doesn't move.
There was nothing there.
I hit nothing!
Other side of the hill, we look at each other…
DID YOU SEE THAT?!!
Yes!!
Yes I did!
But there really wasn't anything there!
How?
What??
I still can't explain it!
But I'll never forget it!
Help!! 🤯
Somebody make it make sense!
Please! 🙏🤞

10:35 To be clear this position is speculation. There could be any number of medical reasons for something like this to occur. There could be some degree of suggestibility responsible, but there could also very easily be medical reasons this occurred.

You feed a processor data at X bits per second and expect it to know more than that without extrspolation? Which you call hallucination.
You don't calculate every atom, you just think of an object as a point. Its not a haluccination, its optimization.

So…if someone does not take a shower for a week, there smell is…an…illusion…even if you don't know that the person didn't shower for a week. When the smell hits you, is that "adaptability to survive" , or the person stinks because didn't take a shower. It doesn't add up…petrol smells like petrol because we created in our mind the smell, or because every substance…smells…still doesn't add up…

“One billion bits of data” isn’t really a lot when you think about it. It’s a gig of data. A pretty good, high quality audio and visual hour long video is about one gig. And that file is expected to be high quality forever. We dump most of the fidelity of our memories pretty much instantly. All we really store is the file’s metadata. And that’s just a tiny bit (pun intended). Our brain’s real ability isn’t in storage, it’s in the processing. Basically being able to pull out the metadata, sorting it and tagging it so we can relate it to other meta tags and create “memories.”

I know a lot of you believe your conscious self is in and created in our brains. But a lot of us believe the brain works more like, let's say the internet. The internet isn't living inside your phone or PC. It's out they're on networks and servers, received and interpreted by the PC or phones and put up on your screen. Your brain is the PC with a high speed connection. You're out there somewhere, observing your life and it's experiences. Allowing yourself to see and hear what you need to survive while you have this experience.

Its hard to truly grasp what your conscious filters vs what your subconscious gets.
I once thought of a thought experiment (…) which was to ;
Close your eyes. Open them real fast and close them (reverse blink). Describe everything you saw during that brief moment.
Now open your eyes and try to see everything you missed without changing any angle. What you described while you had your eyes closed is your conscious but when you opened your eyes again is something your subconscious also got that you couldnt remember enough to describe.
And it goes even harder….if you look at a forest from a distance, you can see the trunk of the trees and that it has leaves. Your subconscious also sees the nerves ending of these leaves and the insects crawling on those trunks even if youre really far away….because the information reaches your eyes….all those 999,999 bits of information mentioned in this video, it would truly be overstimulating.
