Death Metal Legends Hired To Remake Transformers Movie Soundtrack!
In episode 279 of Heavy Metal Philosophy, Jon Barbas sits down with Gus Rios of Gruesome, Left To Die, and Cold Slither fame to talk about how Hasbro hired him to remake the 1986 Transformers Movie Soundtrack for the film’s 40th Anniversary. Gus was joined by Matt Harvey and Ross Sewage from Exhumed on the project along with some of the master minds of the original soundtrack like Stan Bush and Vince DiCola. Hmmm, future projects with toy/cartoon companies. There is that episode of Maestro G. Clef using his sound system to destroy the city. Maybe there will be a ninja turtle villains band? Metalhead and Casey Jones better be in there. 😊

Soon as I heard about this I was hoping someone would get an interview with literally anyone involved with this and Jon you are the perfect person for this interview. I work in a Comic Shop part time, and we had a Cold Slither Comic Book to go along with the band. It was very cool that members of the band were from the Dreadnoks!

So cool these dudes are getting exposure in popular culture, just like cannibal and ace ventura. Maybe not that big, but its better than nothing for metal. I dont trust the corpos to do the right thing by the artists or genre. But it needs exposure to the masses to grow. Enjoyed the interview. Happy for these bands. As a kid, music would be so overwhelming that I would cover my ears and cry. When I was 8, I first watched the '86 Transformers movie and, for the first time, I heard music that I really liked. It was metal! I have Transformers: The Movie to thank for introducing me to a lifelong love of metal. Ive been very happy with the covers of the soundtrack Hasbro has been making.
