It’s Week 1 of Summer Camp Digs 2026, and it’s 70s week so we’re digging into “Spirit” by Earth Wind and Fire (1976).

I have been a video editor for over 10 years, currently studying to be a media studies teacher. I spend a lot of time thinking about how online video is presented, so your deluxe mode has blown me away! Almost brought me to tears with how inspired I feel. Bravo to you, your creativity and the persistent troubleshooting you must have gone through to deliver this work to your audience. Iβm excited to see (and hear) whatβs next!

I had this Album and it's my favorite of them all. Songs: Earth Wind & Fire, Burning Bush, Biyo and Spirit are my favorite. That album is so spiritual and reflective. It really touches my soul.

Not sure how much Stepney had to do with the I AM album but that was their greatest collective effort track for track IMO.

You should also include THIS IS NIECY as part of this analysis. It's like a companion piece to SPIRIT in a way…it's almost like another Earth, Wind and Fire album, but with Deniece Williams on lead vocals.

As a LIFELONG EARTH, WIND, & FIRE FAN (since 1976, at 8 yrs. old), as soon as I saw the title of the video – and being YEARS "BEFORE" I even knew what he looked like – I KNEW: you were talking about Charles Stepney (R.I.P.).

EWF was an underground band before Stepney. He took them to #1

One more thing. There were songs that were recorded prior to his death. But he didnt get the credit posthumously.

While Charles Stepney is typically given less credit in creating the sound of EWF, I think here you give Stepney a tad too much. EWF sound was shaped by many influences, Curtis Mayfield, Sly Stone , Art Blakey and mostly from Brazil '66 as well as Stepney.

I've been listening to Spirit since 1976, it never gets old. Imagination stellar cut, Burnin bush is a spiritual retreat, with Maurice White (I believe) vocals at the beginning are soaring with so much spirituality, its absolutely amazing! Top 3 atf lp.

Just watched this in tandem with the deluxe video and wanna applaud you for trying something so unique on youtube. Never seen anything like it on this platform and it's a really cool experience. My only unsolicited piece of concern is that without the deluxe element, this video doesn't work too well cause of all the silence. With the music and extra visuals it's a 10/10 tho

He worked himself too hard. Producing their album and 2 other people's albums. He did too much and it caught up to him
