You’ve Probably Never Read The Declaration of Independence
Get your free, 30-second personalized assessment TODAY atย https://PDSDebt.com/miller . | But that’s okay because we’re going to read it together. This document was revolutionary when it was written, and yet it purposely and willfully left out most of the population and declared “liberty” to be an “inalienable right” while the writers owned humans. That stain on our history has, so far, been impossible to completely remove.

The declaration's comments about Native Americans is problematic.

Yo. It is pathetic and frankly disgusting to see people wanting to "fulfill" the declaration. It is a whits supremacist, christian zist text, period. How do people just slide over the fact that the WHOLE reason for this was the english parliament blocking westward expansion. That is it. It is right there in the text. Everything else is PR and lies and flowery words. To just ignore what actually happened to worship a propaganda pamphlet is ****ing racist intellectual fraud.

Was required reading out loud in social studies class when I went to school. In history class the Constitution was required reading. Unfortunately we received the white washed version.

I like how she put the 250-year struggle to uphold higher principles and inherent rights of ALL people as an attempt to "claw back" those rights and principles. A bunch of slave-owning elitist hypocrites got most of the enlightenment parts right, but swept the ALL part under the rug. It would take a day to re-write the Constitution to correct its flaws, but unfortunately a constitutional convention to do this would devolve into oligarch-funded chaos. All we can do is keep clawing and never stop.

It's part of why our revolution and how we view it feels different than other countries. It wasn't a revolution of the people, it was one of the highest class.

Apparently there are three dates July 2nd, July 4th and August 2nd. If you can read or have any semblance of comprehension then youโll understand.

A poll found that some people thought America acheived independence from China. More than 20 percent of the American and British publics thought the Sun goes around their home planet. Most of the students protesting for Palestine believe Israel's population's 50 to 100 million.

Definitely appreciated this vid. In the future, it might be helpful to further contextualize whatever you're reading, and break down some of the dense, antiquated language for the youngest folks in the audience, and those whose eyes start to glaze over a bit during this sort of thing

I have to point out that in the 16th and 17th centuries, countries and territories such as the Netherlands and Portugal boldly declared their independence from Spain. So the idea that the US was the first is specious. It might get credit as being the first overseas colony to do so.
On the other hand, it's so refreshing to hear an American just come out and say that when the American Founding Fathers said "all men are created equal," they meant "all rich, white property owners" and that men of colour and ALL women were the property they owned, along with land, farms, cattle etc. In fact, one of the motivations for the entire War of Independence was the fact that in the early 1770s, Britain had begun discussing the abolishment of slavery in the Commonwealth and this put the fear of George into the Founding Fathers.
PS: Britain DID abolish slavery not long afterwards.
PPS: Canada ceased to be a colony of Britain in 1867 and did it without a war – so…

Donโt you ever wonder how different the world would have been had that North Atlantic slave trade not existed? Would the United States have flourished as fast as it did, and would Africa be considered a considered a super-continent due the millions of individuals who would have had the chance to flourish and massively contribute to their respective nations?
