Ozzy Endorsed Yungblud But Others HATE Him!?

Heavy Metal Philosophy | July 2, 2026

In episode 277 of Heavy Metal Philosophy, Jon Barbas analyzes criticisms of Yungblud coming from rock stars like Justin Hawkins of the Darkness, Machine Gun Kelly, and Ronnie Radke. Is Yungblud a poser? Disloyal? A rich kid? Does it even matter when he makes pop rock? Let me know what you think!

I don't even know anything about Yungblud or his music. I only know that he exists. So, it's interesting to learn about something new! Thank you for this video!
Edit: and I completely agree with your takes on this by the way

Everybody has an opinion. Music is a very personal preference so it doesn't matter what anybody likes. MGK is no where talented like Yungblud. Ratke is always opinionated and seems to be very jealous. Dom doesn't have to look like a rock star… he just is!! Stop disecting and judging him.

Haters will always hate!! Dom has a huge fan base who supports Yungblud. He has proven to be extremely talented, real, humble and very deserving of a platform raise from Ozzy ❤

I don't see why people defend Youngblood. He's obviously modelling his image as the new version of the "larger than life" classic rock star image which is mostly of the past now (not inherently a bad idea), but he's doing it in such an annoying, cliché way. He calls pop music "fake" and goes on about how superior and real he and rock music is, and insists he isn't a pop star, then makes pop rock obviously inspired by the mainstream pop which he claims to hate. He's like that no Swedish song writers green day poster come to life.

And the amount of people who defend him against the "haters", but say they don't listen to his music and call it pop of some sort, is just odd. Especially since he seems to hate being called pop more than almost anything else, but his defenders just ignore that. It's strange that people defend him against so called elitists, while he tries so hard to be an elitist himself by going on about how fake pop is and how punk he is, and collabing with classic artists to get the credibility of classic rock. He's like a parody of a rock elitist who has ended up being defended by people who are trying to show off how not elitist they are by defending him.

And what's up with the patronising "of course I don't listen to the music, but he's the future of the rock for kids!". We don't talk this way about metal, which plenty of younger people like. We can talk about sleep token without dismissing their music just "metal for kids" and not worth our time. Maybe if you don't like his music, it's because it's not very good, and we shouldn't use the "it's just for kids anyway" to excuse it. People talk about how the fact he was at Disney before shouldn't be used against him, but talk about him as if he's still at Disney.

Ugh Black Sabbath is literally my all-time favorite band and I love the first four solo albums, but almost everything associated with him from his family, and that stupid ass reality show to the way Sharon screwed over so many class musicians who help get Ozzy where he was at. I will always hail his legacy, but I don’t give a crap about what his kids say or this awful yungblud. it’s going to be a sad state over the next couple of years as they beat his corpse into popping out a few products to make money.

I watched this before Yungblud made today's Instagram post, and his post was heavy. He's obviously still trying to figure himself out and deserves grace toward that. Besides, when Ozzy and Aerosmith come calling, wouldn't ANYONE answer? Can we blame the Osbournes for choosing him if he's a personal friend? It's their choice, after all.

In January 2025, Firebird announced a transformational partnership with YUNGBLUD (Dominic Harrison), committing “tens of millions of dollars” to a newly formed holding company called YB Inc.

Key details of the deal include:

    * Investor: Firebird Music Holdings
    * Capital committed: Tens of millions of dollars (the exact amount has not been publicly disclosed).
    * Structure: YUNGBLUD contributes his existing businesses—including recorded music, touring, merchandise, fashion, brand partnerships, and future ventures—into YB Inc., while Firebird provides growth capital, infrastructure, technology, and strategic support.
    * Ownership: Public reports describe YB Inc. as a 50/50 venture between YUNGBLUD and Firebird.

    Firebird itself was co-founded by:

    * Nat Zilkha (former KKR partner)
    * Nathan Hubbard (former Ticketmaster CEO)

Its lead institutional investor is The Raine Group, the media and entertainment investment bank and merchant bank.

That guy is the definition of an industry plant. Sharon Osborne is the machine. She is an industry insider. Here is my speculation. Sharon told Ozzy to say nice things about YB. I seriously doubt that Ozzy knew who YB was.

YUNGBLUD IS AWESOME!!!!!!! Ok maybe he shouldn’t have elaborated on mgk, but come on the guy is awesome, besides a heart of gold❤️ So what
he went to private school. He made it bc he’s that good! The ppl who have so much to say know nothing about him. Do a deep dive, you’ll change your tune!! These ppl know nothing. So much envy.,sad🌞😪

I put yungblud in the same category as mgk tbh, which is not good, he is a 'male' version of Avril Lavigne, music-wise – behaves like a stripper onstage, at least Justin Hawkins is a great player.

Ozzy just thought he was HOT HOT HOT. Young Blood is just another bitch shaking that ass for the Epstein class. Look at the video. Look at how he’s talking to ozzy and putting his finger tips all on ozzy’s thigh.
Young blood is anointed. Anointed in baby oil.

I don't know what to say. At the end of the day, the biggest thing for me is always gonna be this: is the music good, and is the music worth my time? Honestly, when I see Yungblud, all I see is somebody trying too hard to be a rockstar and not somebody who embodies it. I'm an old man so it doesn't matter.

I read the comments and it really hits me how pathetic the metal community has become. All this guy did was perform at a concert and be grateful for the opportunity. But just because he was liked by great rock legends like Brian May, Ozzy Osbourne, or Aerosmith — that somehow means they don't understand music anymore…😂 Ozzy, with a music career spanning forty years, doesn't get it. May, who created some of the greatest musical hits ever, doesn't get it. Iommi probably doesn't either. Unlike you losers who obviously know better 🤣 Maybe he is just pop rock, but whether he deserves attention or not is up to the listeners — the ones who actually go to his concerts, not a bunch of couch experts in the comments. Like, seriously

A word of advice. Don't put a pic of a convicted rapist in your video. Connor McGregor violently rapped his ex girlfriend so brutally her tampon had to be surgically removed from her.

Ozzy did a lot of things he didn’t wanna do just for his family. Show me this dudes back catalog that’s anything in the realm of being a “rock savior”

  16. @spockllap2877

    July 2, 2026 at 9:06 am

First of all, I find it very amusing that some people here claim Ozzy didn't understand music. Unlike them, of course, lmao. Dear friends, just because you can strum a guitar and play in bars doesn't make you great musicians. Ozzy was known for having incredible musical intuition and could spot future young stars instantly. This happened with Metallica, with Alice in Chains, with Slipknot, and even with Nirvana, by the way. According to Kurt Cobain's own account, Ozzy offered them to tour together even BEFORE they blew up the charts and were playing small venues. Ozzy also loved different kinds of music, including pop. This guy, Yungblud, has been praised by numerous legendary musicians, from Brian May to Geezer Butler. And although I don't like him either, I think he's cosplaying a rock star rather than being one (especially literally copying Ozzy's, Iggy Pop's, and Freddie's schtick) — that's just a fact. As for Ozzy, he never in his life called him his "heir" or "savior of rock." Yungblud was a family friend. His daughter Kelly introduced them. Ozzy and Sharon appeared in his music video. He, although from a wealthy family, comes from roughly the same area as Ozzy himself — not far off, at any rate. Similar accent, also has ADHD. Ozzy liked him as a person, he liked that he was a charismatic, interesting guy who burned for the stage, and he simply offered him to perform at his concert. He told him to go out there, rock out, be himself, and conquer America. He never designated him as any kind of rock god, nor did he pass any baton to him. YB performed a cover of Black Sabbath's most romantic song and did a brilliant job, by the way. Those who say otherwise are simply lying to themselves.

  17. @ЮлияКалмыкова-т3т

    July 2, 2026 at 9:06 am

Just in case. Ozzy never passed any torch and never 'blessed' him in any way. That's all just more tabloid nonsense. This guy was a family friend – Ozzy liked him, liked his charisma and his music too. Ozzy actually loved all kinds of music and casually listened to pop music. He never said that guy was 'the new rock god.' He simply offered him a spot at his farewell show to give the guy a chance to shine. He'd done the same before with plenty of young bands. And he told him to conquer America and be himself. That's literally it…

MGK and Ronnie are what I call Meth copper scrap rock . Hawkins as far as I know was never accepted totally by old Rock and Metal guys Like Aerosmith and Ozzy.

Yungblud is a former Brit pop guy upper middle class raised guy. But so is half of suburbanite American metal.

    July 2, 2026 at 9:06 am

Can't say nothing abt death metal, but bruh, black metal is a genre founded by upper-middle class scandinavian kids that were angry at fucking nothing. Norway and Sweeden are literally some of the richest countries in Europe. They were back then and they are now. Gotta say there's nothing wrong with that. From a political and economic standpoint that's great, but to pretend that black metal has real "street-cred" is simply disingenuous

I grew up listening to Aerosmith so when I heard about the collaboration with Steven and Joe it’s peak my interest a bit and that was as far as it went. I started with Classic rock then went head first into metal and all then sub genres. I’m with you I’m not gonna hate just because he came from Disney or money. I’m just not gonna waste my time & energy as 50+ year old I got better things to do.

With Ozzy passed on, only thing I want is for Sharon (and her endless grift) to shut the fuck up.
The riff at the end kicks ass and one you REALLY need to hear/buy is Funkadelic- Maggot Brain cd. The guitar player Eddie Hazel absofuckinglutely rips on it.

Another sad thing, I don't want Ozzy's kids defining his legacy. Ozzy was a legend before they were born.
All Jack and Kelly bring is a pop face to the Ozzy Osbourne legacy. A commercial and Top 40 cheesey appeal.
I think real and original Ozzy fans remember him from the 1970s and early 80s. When Sharon started to use him as her vehicle to build her brand it got really sticky bubble gum.

  24. @Truthsarecoveredupwithdeceit

    July 2, 2026 at 9:06 am

I seen The Warning come up from scratch. They didn't sell their souls like the others. Their management made a really bad decision for letting them open up for Yungblud. That was an insult. I hope they distant themselves from Yungblud and such acts. They are way better at music than people like Yungblud.

  25. @Truthsarecoveredupwithdeceit

    July 2, 2026 at 9:06 am

They made Ozzy into a commercial pop act in his late years.
In the 70s and 80s rockers and metal heads looked down on that part of the industry, that's why their genres were created. To get away from pop, top 40 and commercial music that the masses swallowed.

Yungblud and Machine Gun Kelly are jokes. Just propped up puppets for the big record industry.
Real rockers and metal heads would avoid these acts like the plague.

I like his song "Zombie" and that one about feeling shit when I wake up, it takes about 2 hours for me to come around". Reminds me of my party days. And that's it lol. Thanks for making this video, man 🙏

Had me at Ozzy and lost me at Punk …. Money is money and rock stars are prey for consumer abuse . The complaint society need the attention and this has nothing to do with Punk Rock . It’s the idiots who play pop music and who abuse “punk rock “ to try to gain respectability when in reality the people that would give you the respect, probably wouldn’t go by any fucking title at all because real people judge people on their merits and not a title.

Then again, I’m an old punk rocker .

    July 2, 2026 at 9:06 am

I'm a little conflicted here: I'm not the sorta rock and metal fan to call Yungblood a poser, but he definitely has given off a weird energy that I couldn't vibe with. But, it does seem like these dudes are giving too much attention to a dude they claim that don't like, and don't rock with what he stands for. I can care less about him coming from money, as long as he doesn't lie about it, and does the work of a musician. Good video Jon! Sidenote: Machine Kelly has no business judging anybody!!!😂😂😂😂
