His mother’s reaction reminds me of my husband’s aunt’s reaction to my daughter’s name being, “that’s ok. She can change it.” When she passed, we honored her by naming our second daughter with a middle name of her first name which she hated. 😂😂😂. (We didn’t like her first name although, despite her comment, we didn’t adore her)

Cosmo is an affected name, an effort to be hip. It's a ridiculous name. Look for Cosmo to become a drug addict later in life.

I wanted to name my son Oscar Wilde Woods (that’s his dad’s last name; I didn’t change mine when we got married, hyphenating our two names wouldn’t fit on any forms) but everyone in my family put the ixnay on Oscar Wilde. So we named him an unpronounceable Irish name, Graeme. It means “grey home.” Not nearly as upbeat as Oscar Wilde Woods, but whatever. People eventually got used to it.
