The Ghosts Of Alcatraz

Weird History | June 26, 2026

Alcatraz, also known as “The Rock,” was a maximum-security fortress where only the most dangerous and clever criminals were sent. One of the most infamous prisons in American history, it sat alone on a rocky island in San Francisco Bay and was once considered escape-proof. But decades after the prison closed, questions still linger. Did some prisoners actually escape? What secrets remain hidden behind its crumbling walls? And could Alcatraz be a place where even death isn’t enough to set you free?

In this episode of Weird History Presents: Graveyard Shift we take a look at the strange history of Alcatraz, the prison that may never let go.
