To be clear, it sounds like it was In Living Color the sketch comedy show and not the Living Color rock group. But how amazing would Cult of Personality be on a superbowl stage? I mean it would never happen but still.

So basically America has historically used propaganda tactics that do not differ from those of Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union.

I would call it "lame" over cringe. It's just so uppity and positive it comes off forced. It seemed more of a tradition than a show and just evolved when the super bowl became a business.
