Why Music Needs Jack White…

Justin Hawkins Rides Again | June 17, 2026

Last week Jack White released “Dollar Bill” from his upcoming album, “Frozen Charlotte” – the follow-up to 2024’s “No Name” – which arrives on July 10th.
I absolutely loved this song but what did you think? Let me know in the comments.

Jack White & The Darkness are living proof rock n roll is alive & well! 🎸💓
Thank you for the inspiration, time for me to blow the dust off of my guitar and start practicing!

Love all three new songs! Watched him doing his magic on stage in Hamburg two weeks ago. He really brings very young to 70+ rockmusic lovers together. Was a wonderful night.

Um, LOVE this. Lots of question/answer musical phrasing…. sooooo goooood ✨️. PS Who would ever think his guitar playing is simple/straight forward? Always so much going on.

The part about the mixing of guitar and bass strings made me Really want a superhero team-up of Jack White and Scott Lucas of Local H, who uses a heavily modified guitar to get the low end needed for a two-man show. Imagine the tones those wizards could conjure – and that's just with their voices!

We can always count on Jack White for providing a contemporary homage to 2017 beer commercial music. Some people say leave blues to blues artist but I say you go Jack White.

Dismissing this song as basic blues negates the experimentation with saturation and overtones rock musicians have nerded out over for decades.

From purposely damaging amplifiers for distortion to playing a guitar with a violin bow, the interest in manipulating the micro-isolations of the original note to envoked different emotional responses is not limited to rock music. In motzart's time you needed a 60-peice orchestra exploiting the differencees in tone from instrument to instrument to get the colour palette required but synthesisers, pedals and sound engineers have taken that to all new extremes.

Team blues, team rock and team pop are fighting over something so subtle it can only be defined in basic categorical terms but to the individual experiencing music they are worlds apart.
