I think home is supposed to give a feeling of overall contentedness, that feeling of “this is where I’m supposed to be”, whatever factors may make that up. I’ve been grappling with what home means to me recently, as I’ve had to come to terms with the fact that what I always thought of as home has been the furthest thing from it. I’ve had to venture out into the unknown to search for home for myself and it’s hard not to feel like a stray dog sometimes, too afraid to take up space in the world like anybody else would. I hope home comes to me soon and I hope you find a place that feels like home too Joel, this was a lovely little film 🙂 your cinematography is always such a standout!

You can take any frame of Spider-Man 67’ and turn it into a meme—you can take any frame of Spawn: The Animated Series and turn it into an album cover for a metal band—and you can take any frame of this and frame it on your wall.👌

43:40 is the craziest part of this movie for me because I also try to get the whole peel in one peel and recently my friend and I were eating some together and she wasn't doing that and I had completely forgotten that's not something people normally do so I was briefly shocked by that. And just before I started watching the movie I had some oranges and thought of that moment. What's even more shocking is how Joel mentions eating the whole apple later and that's ALSO something I do. I don't eat the seeds tho lol

i dont really enjoy being an adult, especially being disabled means what perks i should have as an adult i dont even get so i just wish i could be a kid again when everything was simple calm and safe

I’m in a run of bad days and I’ve just been hoping for normal days, but it’s hopeful to be reminded I’ll have good days again, too. Thanks for the movie, Joel, Trent, & co ❤️

I love how real this feels. Little things like Trent reacting to the string of pasta cheese when he took a bite- the little imperfections of life that Hollywood edits out.

I just got back from a four day trip with my best friend. He's been in a mental health therapy place for a couple years now, so leaving him back in the city is always really hard. We're both little nature hippies and need to be in the woods. I get really scared about his mental health when he's in the city. The scene where you start talking about your anxiety could have just been ripped from our past few days together, almost word for word. We're planning a commune together, and I'm starting to think it might actually happen, some pieces have really fallen into place.

Anyways. Joel, your movies always speak to me at different times in really profound ways. Tonight it was this one. I was just sitting up really worrying about my best friend and really really missing him a lot, and this one just made me feel like I was still with him, and that there are more people like us out there.

My best friend and I are both probably at a low 40% as far as where we want to be in life, but we're getting there. We're working towards making big changes so we don't have to be so distant. Friendships are balm to the soul and it's so wonderful to watch something that shows that in such a subtle and caring way between you and Trent.

Love you guys. Always appreciate your willingness to share your hearts like this.

    Thanks.

This movie went insanostyle, for real the part were you guys start talking about "home" and all the nuance and factors around it, it felt like having the thoughts I have in my head materialize as I'm struggling to figure out what's gonna be my home too or if there really even is a place out there to call home. Being from a small town I'm gonna have to end up chosing between being closer with family or closer with friends or sometimes I just think I just need to start fresh somewhere out there and make that home for myself. Who knows it's a constant struggle and battle inside my head and that conversation just felt so damn real, I guess because it is…

I'm sure you've answered this before, but what equipment do you shoot with? Your night shot's grains and the aspect ratio makes me think of film, but your image quality in general is so much better. Maybe the film vibes are what makes your movies feel so cozy 🙂

AYYY I love Joel so much man, Elliott Smith hits so close to home for me, as well as the nostalgia bit about just doin' your homework and stuff that seemed like it was your entire life back then and really realizing the circle of life just makes you think…
Also I work in seasonal at walmart and stock those sea creatures so that was fun to see lol
Very quiet and lowkey movie that I love, your guys dynamic can really carry a lot of entertainment on its own merit entirely, hell yeah bros!
Only 2 left to watch now.
