As a kid in the 60's my Mum took me to Jodrell Bank. The people there I guess completely saw me as a Science / Space Nerd as I was just staring intently at the real time radio signals being displayed on the screen. One of the people there gave me a looong piece of graph paper with the recording of a signal from "I don't remember" that they no longer needed. I treasured that paper and would dig it out just to know that was a signal from beyond Earth.

I've been to Jodrell Bank once when I was a kid as well, and the acoustic dishes are a stand out memory for me a well!

Okay, I just need to comment on the excellent closed captioning on Tom's videos. If you don't watch with CC on try it on part of this one. Not only is it obviously done by a person because no automatic CC error we normally have but it's even got different colors for different speakers!

I grew up near Jodrell Bank before we emigrated to Canada in 1969. Was able to take my two kids there some 30 years later and right when we got there the dish began to move. It really is an awe-inspiring sight and I was geeking out as much as Tom is.

Tom, I grew up in the north west, around an hour away. My father would take the 10 year old me here more times than any normal 10 year old would ask. He passed away a few years ago and this has really brought a tear to my eye. I felt every bit of excitement and emotion you were feeling during this video. This place is one of my all time favorite childhood places. Part of me is very envious, and the other part very happy to just live vicariously through you. Thank you so so much. :')
