It’s got to come down to writing. I don’t really remember most of the new Star Wars films and shows. And a lot of the characters aren’t likeable either.

I know there's a close to 0% chanve you'll even see this but I want to express my genuine appreciation of this video. I've probably watched it upwards of 20 times at different times and recently I thought "huh, maybe I should watch Andor…" and I did and it was legitimately incredible and I am beyond thankful of you and this video for being the reason I did.

I feel like u can make a show about a PTSD-ridden Obi-Wan learning to fight again. That sounds really cool but it needs to be done well. The Obi-Wan show just is not trying at all.

The original 3 movies most certainly don't hold up as well as people think. The acting/dialogue is not the best, and a lot of the scenes lack dramatic effect or fluidity. In ESB, Vader just kind of jumping off the carbonite platform was just out of nowhere and it happened so silently, and Luke just dropping off to die only to be shuffled into an exhaust vent to live…there was like no sound or music and it just felt out of place. The movies are actually kinda cheesy on rewatch. Dialogue with Lei/Solo is pretty funny and obviously the droids and all the creatures are cool and have good aspects to them, but honestly the main characters and visuals are just kinda bland. Not to mention the saber rights are soooooo slow. Vader and Obi fighting was a snore fest, especially when you look at the crazy cool action of Samurai films that were also around the time these movies released….Lucas was even inspired by them (Vader's helmet, etc) so to have such poor action sequences is just weird. For the time, sure they were great. But they do not hold up. Jurassic Park holds up, as an example. Sure it's newer, but a good example of a classic that withstands the test of time.

Could sell a million star wars shows if they weren't made by non fans. The team of professional lesbians keep making star wars into a drama instead of the action adventure fans fell in love with. They don't understand why people even like star wars yet their allowed to write and create shows for it.

Andor and Maul Shadow Lords have been the only two Star Wars project since Rogue One that hit closes to me. Solo also was not a bad film. The problem is Disney stopped main December Star Wars releases for a while now.

Lowkey sucks too because I am a big fan of the clone wars and would love to write my own stories or make an animated series but I feel like I CANT because I don’t want people to be like ā€œoh great another person making a boring show for no reason….ā€ And then not watch it

Holy crap. I just realized the thug in the Batman footage at 15:07 is also Ulaf, the Narkina V prisoner who has a stroke in Andor S1 (at 25:25 ). Did a quick search, and the actor's name is Christopher Fairbank. (edited to add time stamps)

love drew's analysis and show of appreciation for andor: it really is a great show. his criticism of the current state of star wars is really on point. honestly, the setting it provides is a really great one for telling stories not only about cool scifi shit and characters but something relevant even in today's current situations; the best star wars is not the one which is only about cool shit and hype (even though they are fun), but ones which tell a brilliant story that make us think and feel a little bit differently

the turning point of andor as a character really epitomizes one of my favorite quotes ever: a splinter in your eye is the best magnifying glass

27:20 the funniest part is that it’s not even space Miami. It’s space Blackpool. Niamos was designed to look like a low class British resort town. It was filmed at one such town in Lancashire. The Doylist reason is that it was covid, they didn’t have that many shooting locations available, and they thought ā€œfuck itā€ and went all in, but the Watsonian explanation is that Cassian Andor doesn’t know real luxury. He doesn’t know the real resort planets, the tropical paradises, he knows the shitty, low class planets that imitate those tropical paradise planets because he’s only ever been able to afford the imitation.

9:54 That's straight up wrong tho? Joker gave him the opposite locations to trick him, he literally tells Gordon he's going for Rachel.

I'll be honest this video just seems like a lot of minute nitpicks that could even be applied to the original and especially prequel trilogy.

That mission on Clorpotron sounds so like the 'nightmare' Obi-Wan got he and Ani into in that adventure they talked about in the lift in Attack of the Clones. Funnily, that scene was added as a pick up because they realised the two 'friends' hardly spent any of the movie together and seemed almost like strangers.
