Channel 5 has talked about how their videos covering indigenous rights movements get soft blacklisted like palestine related videos, that might also have affected view count.

the stripped back aesthetic for the conversion therapy video would be perfect imo!! ngl watching this video, as in the video essay this live relates to, really reminded me of a therapists office so i feel like it would fit the vibe. change some lighting to make it more sinister in moments and it'd be perfect

I saw some of the… "feedback" about the Palestine genocide bit. Honestly, this has to be some crap by the tankie sphere. Not talking about people who in good faith made criticisms of the "you could have handled it better" variety, but people saying very far off things like you were taking the side of Israel there. I heard people criticise it before, I was expecting a big mess up even if of the unintentional variety. Yet, even primed to see what you were saying as something bad in some way, it was still clear to me exactly what you were saying, both in regards to what the focus of the video was and that you were merely pointing the parallels without going off topic, which is completely fine (maybe not someone's preference, but that is only personal taste).

For me, it was the air quotes. In the U.S. that's used to indicate that something is alleged or untrue. Having now seen this, ik you don't espouse a centrist pov on the genocide, but that's certainly how it came across.

    Respect for addressing people's concerns

Oooff, been there wrt 2 breakups in quick succession. Happened to me a few years ago. The downside of polyamory I guess. The good news is both breakups were amicable, and one of the people in question is one of my closest friends 🙂 I hope you get through it all okay and come out the other side eventually stronger and happier

I've been shocked by the prevalence of explicit "might makes right" logic recently too and I don't remember people openly saying stuff like that in public as little as 10 years ago?

About Tech issues with Mic. I'm not sure what setup you have. I will assume you might have a windows machine and have it on Windows 11. I've seen a some streams struggle similarly with these audio issues with the update. I'd recommend checking out what ppl are saying online or checking with other streamers. But from what I understand the gist is:
    * Make sure that by default windows is actually processing the microphones at full quality (this setting for some reason seems to some time get reset to base low quality on reboot apparently sometimes).
    * Make sure to turn off any of windows "optimisations" on audio processing, which will mess with audio and bitrates and basically lower the priority of audio processing of your mic when focused on another window, like when for example you were sharing the screen.
I'm not sure where to find these settings myself, as I don't have a windows machine but have sat through a few a gaming streams that ended up mostly being a mic troubleshooting streams because win11.

I don't mean to take it there, but why aren't you talking about Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Britain and England(which I personally think stems from the Roman Eagle being presented on the Standard) being colonized by the Holy Roman Empire later known as Germany? I mean y'all literally had Germanophobia even though your Crown was being integrated with the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. And I mean, if the non-Gaelic non-Celtic are what you're calling English to differentiate them from the Britons. And with those small town Festivals y'all have like "The Hunting of the Earl of Rone" y'all got some serious tension that needs to be addressed……… but I digress….but regress to the point that why are y'all always talking about our politics when your indigenous citizens have A LOT of shit they're saying and have been saying for the past, i dunno…. 1500 years? From Roman Slaves entering the land to running away with free tribes, to rebelling, pillaging roman encampments, renegade Roman Generals and Leaders…….what's with the focus on the US when half of our issues stems from whatever was going on with y'all……….THE DOMINION THAT TRIED TO RULE THE WORLD lmao…. and no we don't owe y'all backpayments on taxes or reparations on lost land. if anything y'all owe some of these countries backpayments on wars and for renting their ports ;D

I don't usually watch live streams because there's so much time "wasted" on technical issues and random stuff unrelated to the point of the stream. (I also don't usually watch in real time because of schedule conflicts.) But I saw your short thanking your new member who praised your response to criticism, and I wanted to come listen for myself. I think you did an amazing job of dealing with your own emotions off camera and then coming back and acknowledging your mistakes here. That was a wonderful example for me of how to not only take criticism constructively, but also how to take that energy and send it in a positive direction. Thank you for demonstrating the best way possible to take responsibility and turn negative energy into positive. You have a beautiful soul!

I haven’t watched it here because I saw it on Nebula. It was weird because I thought it was over a month between seeing it there and seeing it pushed here.

I only saw this reaction because I went looking having seen a short pushed. Given 2 week old comments it seems YT has changed its policy for what it pushes. Or maybe it thinks my tastes have changed.

Someone commented here saying we should share our fave Indigenous content creators, writers, academics etc – I love Dine Aesthetics, Lil Native Boy, Gregg Deal (especially his podcast Big Chief Sugar), Root Cause Remedies podcast, Native Opinion an American Indian Perspective podcast, YT Channel Navajo Traditional Teachings, and the US National Park Service has great resources on NAGPRA I highly recommend taking a look at (articles, youtube videos, etc)
Also, just look for people yourself. For scholarly work, there's American Indian Quarterly for example. Just because they aren't well known creators doesn't mean there aren't a TON of folks out there making stuff. Just like how homeless youtube isn't a well known community here, but it definitely exists. Marginalized voices aren't going to be automatically fed to you by your algorithm because their voices are BEING marginalized. If you don't already follow a number of people in marginalized communities, you'll have to seek them out yourself in the search bar. It's well worth your time.
Also also, follow Indigenous creators from around the globe, not just Turtle Island

i'm glad i've allowed myself to hear out what you had to say about it; i've probably let the parasocialism make me more disappointed in Abby than would be reasonable for someone i don't actually know. i'll subscribe again, maybe with a cooler head and knowledge of what you meant when saying all that stuff i'll even get to the end of the video, dunno, maybe some nuance was lost in translation

can we just have some proper philosophy content again, i liked your insights into philosophy more than the presentation. the master slave video, the elon musk and the steve bannon videos are my favourites, bc there was a nice balance between philosophy and acting. the newer videos are too much production and too little left wing theory. especially the nietzsche videos were very disappointing and i was kinda shocked. but hey i hate schopenhauer to the core, so maybe i would also be unforgiving.
i would wish youd do a max stirner video, but i guess philosophy in philosophytube is kinda dead.

If you're covering modern conversion therapy I'd like to encourage you to include the ways asexuality is medicalized and 'treated', I basically never hear about it outside of ace spaces.

I'm really interested to see your videos on birth rates and whether to have children. I'm in a really peculiar place right now in my life, where my own children are on the verge of adulthood, and I find myself talking with them about this question, all the while I'm personally wondering if I want grandchildren (the short answer is an emphatic yes, but the long answer involves whether I want my children to bring children into this *gestures broadly*).

(And as a queer trans woman, I'm also very, very interested in you tackling conversion therapry, but the draw there is much simpler, lol. It's a shame inclduing the U.S. would be much too big a scope for a single video.)

It just kinda hurts how so much of this could have been avoided by simply putting out a poll or hiring a script consultant. Like you clearly appreciate the feedback from the comments, but you couldda just had that without all the misnaming to begin with

Views being down specifically on PC (while revenue stayed stable) is actually because a popular adblock list added a line blocking telemetry data to YouTube, making it so YT could not tell at all that you even saw a video, so it was unable to count those views.
The reason revenues stayed stable is because the corresponding views were all users who used adblock and therefore didn't generate revenue in the first place.
However, if revenue and engagement was down overall, that stuff would still have been accurate, so if your video underperformed financially, it unfortunately still means the video actually underperformed, which is sad 'cause I thought it was great
