Memorial Day originated in the aftermath of the Civil War as "Decoration Day," a time for communities to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers with spring flowers. These included freed slaves and white people. A white man didn't like that so it changed. Now it's ridiculous holiday that has nothing to do with fallen soldiers and is nothing but an excuse to bbq and drink beer.
