The Horror Game Nearly Gave me A Panic Attack
Listen, it may have had me on edge, but The Drifter is an absolute gem of an adventure game. Spooky, high octane, thriller goodness. Want to hear more about this game? Check out my podcast episode!: https://zencastr.com/z/dTlgTZfO

+1 for the Dodger / "Oliver and Company" reference!! Your vids are like being wrapped in a warm, cozy blanket while looking at snow falling outside.

Thank you so much for making this. If it wasn't for your review I might not have played this. It is probably my favourite game that came out in 2025.

I bought this game on your recommendation and played it in two sittings – I loved every moment. Been gaming since β84, huge adventure game fan (even made one myself βPixelville Pensionersβ back in the Newgrounds days!) and The Drifter is alongside my modern favourite alongside Lucy Dreaming and Burnhouse Lane.
The voice acting for the main guy Mick is incredible, he switches from gruff to defeated to stressed very well. The pressured sequences are so intense, and yet like a Lucasarts classic, Mick canβt actually die, and yet I felt that adrenaline nonetheless. A phenomenal blend Iβve never experienced elsewhere.
One thing I found really good on a technical level was the interface. So slick, with the mouse over providing the usual βlookβ action. Also, the visuals were really moving – dunno if itβs just because Iβm an old head who loved Loom but the art direction is really good, with subtle movement to the chunky pixels alongside exquisite palette selection giving rise to evocative atmosphere.
I only wish I could phase shift back and play it fresh once more!
Iβm really glad I heard of this game π thanks for the video!

I got a great point & click who-done-it recommendation for you! Pentiment, you play as a journeyman painter in the 16th century who accidentally gets pulled into trying to solve a murder at an abbey. The game is made to look like youβre playing through a medieval book and is right up your alley in vibes π

Great video as always PUR! May I also suggest you also do a review of the newly released "School Quest". It is based on style of the old Sierra games from the 80s so I'm sure you'd have interesting comments about it. I'd be curious how your own high school experience can be compared to the storyline within the game.

Absolutely loved this video. I adore the TV reviews, but there's just something cozy and comforting about a PushingUpRoses game review. Loved your thoughts and takes on this game. It worked so well with your style!

that list at the end with all those socials … something tells me not all of them are real, but dunno why :3
also i doubt i'll remember that you seemingly are called sarah, in my mind you'll be roses anyway
as a side note if you still looking for murder she wrote episodes i might wanna suggest season 2 episode 6, not for the bonkers part which kinda is but tame compared to the ones you've showcased here, instead i would like to showcase the dissonace between result and effort since that episode feels like production team had to deliver something but had a much grander scheme and better polished gem in mind …
but i get it, the problem with such creations is that the result seldom matches the vision one had in mind, or at least that is the stuff i end up with
i want to write stories, have some for me at least interesting ideas but if i compare the stuff i have finished with the idea i had in mind i tend to start over since it seems i can't match my own standard
so yeah it seems my problem is i want to much perfection from the stuff i do regardless if some other person would view it the same way which i highly doubt anyway which leads to redoing stuff or simply stopping midprogress "waiting for inspiration"
sideside note i was thinking about deleting the second part of that post, still am as i write that here but i think i am gonna post it in the hopes you roses or somone else sees that just to show that there are many ways to struggle, it is part of what makes us human after all, the recognition that we struggle and the consequences and actions that we draw from that π

I bought this when I saw you loved it. It's so good! What a good story. It was scary and horrifying, but the son storyline made me bawl. How did they tell such a multilayer story andv still keep everything moving and heart stepping. Thank you for recommending! I'm finally watching the video now that I'm finished lol
