Bringing back memories of my teenage years. Underrated album. D'arcy on "Daydream" was great, would have been great if they used her for vocals more. Siamese Dream is peak.

❌Great 90’s album to be sure,
…but “change of subject” I recently listened to Blind Melon’s SOUP on vinyl
I thought that I would thoroughly enjoy this album, but after 5 spins I just did not.

No, sorry buddy…..I never really got into the Pumpkins…..but, very influential band nonetheless…..I think maybe I'll give it a whip through, and hopefully am pleasantly surprised……Thanks for the review….great work as usual…..Be Well….😎✌️

Just coming here to say about the seam splits, that would be going back immediately, FFS 🤦‍♂️
Be good to hear you comment when stuff arrives damaged, also checking if the discs are not warped.

In Dec. 1991 me and a group of around 7 others were supposed to be seeing RHCP/Nirvana/Pearl Jam. Nirvana left the tour after the previous show to headline their own tour. They were replaced by a band none of us had ever heard of called Smashing Pumpkins. The worst band I've ever seen in concert, bar none.
This was confirmed six years later when I saw them open for the Stones.

Gish is more about the music and is more one-note than anything else they did back then (original period up to and including their split at the end of 2000), but has some great songs, brilliant riffs, mellow passages and of course Jimmy C's thunderous drumming. It's actually my least favourite of the SP 1.0 works, but I respect anyone's opinion who differs. Whilst all these albums were unmistakingly Pumpkins (like them or not as a band, they are impossible to confuse with anyone else), no two releases sounded that alike, as Corgan in those days changed rapidly in his composition style, as well as producing an absolutely prodigious volume of quality songs. The Aeroplane Flies High b-sides box set of tracks that failed to make the 28-song behemoth that is MCIS would comfortably blow out of the water the best output of many bands.

I'm happy to see the Pumpkins getting a shout-out on what is a channel dedicated to Classic Rock, because they were absolutely NOT a grunge band in any sense, and Corgan's influences were wide and varied, with psychedelia (on Gish in particular and their early non-album stuff), prog, heavy rock, metal, new wave, glam and later on even industrial sounds going on, to varying degrees.

I bought a recent reissue, the one with foil cover and it was painful to listen to. Nonfill and noise.
Later represses seemed to fix that and used better material, although I see your copy is dirty a.f., as usual with modern vinyl.
    Smh.
