Sidewalk didn’t start with Jay. There was a large gap between your timeline with 2019 sidewalk is “launched” to 2023 when sidewalk is ready to go.

Honestly I don’t even care if the government is using it at this point. I’m just worried about creeps using it.
FBI already knows almost everything about you, don’t worry.
Even in the 1990s they did. My mom had a friend who was dating someone in the FBI. She told the guy that he probably won’t be able to find anything on her. Just a week later he comes back knowing basically her and her entire family just from their data bases.
So, as I said, I don’t care if the government is using it. I just don’t want private citizens to be able to record people with these. No way to avoid the government.

I'm glad this is very illegal in Europe (or at least the Netherlands). If your door cam records a public space you need a license. If you don't you can get fined.

They want to use a device I've paid for that itself requires a subscription I continue to pay for and uses internet that I continue to pay for to power their surveillance network that they sell to shady organizations.
    Nope.

This shouldn't even be a thing, having surveillance or feeling so unsafe, you want to be able to see who is at the door. I'm glad I live in a society where we don't need surveillance or check who is at the door, before opening. Americans must live in constant fear. It's sad. We have laws in our country, you're not allowed to point a surveillance camera into public areas or into other people's driveways. But most Ring Cameras I see, point further out than would be allowed here.

LOL, I din't expect that, out of all things, Star Craft, would get a shoutout in this video. I mean, the technology is interesting. I just don't like how they, (white) men in power, are most likely going to use it.

Regarding "this was 1990," I graduated high achool in 1991. My high school's computer lab was used to teach typing. And printing – so we could print off our typing assignments.

Ring is J U N K! I just got an alert minutes ago, someone walking into my house, I could not tell it was our god daughters boyfriend, I nearly called the police. This system is WORTHLESS!

A little disappointed that you didn't dive into the issue of data sharing with law enforcement and ICE, sometimes without even needing a subpoena. It seems really related and like an intentional oversight

When I tried to watch this video the first time my TV did something I’ve never seen before…
I was booted completely out of YouTube!

I bought ring a long time ago and once I heard about interior Ring footage being used against owners in court without the owners permission I knew I needed to get them out of my home!!!

Anyone curious about this should check out Benn Jordan's video series on Flock Safety surveillance systems. This goes deep and Ring is just a small portion of it.

@2:30 I used to regularly stay overnight for work, and I'm an adult, so I'd pack the giant stuffed horse I used as a body pillow. My husband would always get a picture highlighting the horse getting mashed into the trunk of my car with the question: "Is this a person?" Boy, we better hope not!

I work at Amazon in the AI sector. There's a conspiracy theory that trickled down to us. Apparently Bezos bought the Melania movie for several million as a way of obtaining the Ring contract that will eventually be used by the US government for law enforcement and some guys are even saying it's being used by ICE to detect people who look "un-American".

I highly recommend having security cameras, but get something local. Companies like Ubiquiti sell hardware that allows you to keep all your recordings local on your own hard drives and it's not hard to setup. They even have wireless versions of their cameras that are super basic to get going, but wired is best for privacy. I would never trust any of the cloud based solutions.
