And the hammering is not even good hammering! You could not repair a fence or do any of the other things they are doing with silly little imprecise taps like that.

Chastising the movie for not having enough Chicago, while also not including a single MSW "Chicawgo" reference in your own video? For shame.

Yes, but let's give it up to the casting director for casting the sisters. I swear, they could be twins. If one wasnt wearing a bonnet, I'd get them mixed up.

That was some of the fakest snow I have ever seen in a movie! Would it have been so hard for them to set it in Ohio or New York and film in winter? I miss the 1980s when winter actually looked right in movies because they often filmed in wintery places in winter!

Did not expect a random, out of nowhere, reference to Gabriel Knight.

One thing about the Hallmark/Great American Family factory films that drives me crazy (aside from how they, as a genre, bolster White/Christian supremacy) is that the main character is never allowed to wear her hair up, even when realism requires it. Any restaurant/baking shop/kitchen scenes where the star still wears her hair long and flowing absolutely makes me cringe.

These are Mennonites not Amish. If you choose to leave your Amish community, you can’t come back. I know that it’s not your fault, it’s the fault of the writers, but you should have mentioned that. I find this film pretty offensive regarding the Amish religion.

Why is there a crocheted afghan tacked to the wall??
More importantly, WHY THE HECK IS HER HAIR NOT PUT UP when she is working in the kitchen?? Get that nasty loose hair away from my pie!

It's so cute when people who know nothing about the Amish try to portray them.
They're wearing the wrong clothes, the women have incorrect head coverings, the men have moustaches, and they don't even look German!
These folks are Mennonite or MAYBE Brethren.

14:07 obviously, they can't kiss yet, because… the script didn't say "Simon says", or something.

This movie would make more sense if it were a murder mystery, and the crime is "who killed the pie baker?", and no one has a good alibi because, "but you hated how shit she made the pies!" works on everyone.
And like, they all learn that they all tried to kill the pie baker, but her pies really were shit, so everyone just declared it a "christmas miracle," and went on their way.
Actually, to steal from MBMBaM: TM TM TM TM TM. I can cram writing a 300 page Christmas Romanstery But Amish (I don't know anything that will make the Amish look good, but I can make it gay) into this year.

Why aren't the beards right? This movie has one job, to be Amish. My eye can't even read it as Amish. It's so distracting.

I was very obsessed with Amish culture once, and this is not close to Amish.
They welcome the outsider so easy, they already had cookbooks being selled, the clothes, the "electricity" 😂 I can't!!

The card had some Pennsylvania "Dutch" (German) in it – that's how she guessed Amish

May 14, 2026 at 9:11 pm
3:33 That greeting in HUGE PRINT on the card was probably a clue; the Amish speak English but I believe there is also some German or Dutch used. 6:38 he seems to be trying to channel Robert Pattison.
Also Sarah is a cookbook editor not an interior decorator, so, no decorating skill needed in her office!
