Trump thought he was going to get himself a new daddy because he sees Putin dying, losing war, not helping him, so Xi shrewdly put the leash on him. First he went to China looking the beggar, Xi degraded him by not meeting him at airport, then as you say Xi outright threatened him to not interfere with China taking Taiwan. This is first US president to not say Taiwan must have self-determination. I agree he looks clearly shaken after the meeting, how SOFTLY he says only "China's beautiful," and he looked like he saw his life flash before his eyes when reporters asked HIM SPECIFICALLY if they discussed Taiwan- can't recall him EVER STAYING SILENT like that.

china wants to take taiwan without conflict, through intimidation and overwhelming show of force. there is literally no other way, because an open war would be extremely expensive. Think of how the US is at war with Iran, and how expensive that's going. and there aren't even boots on the ground. Remember, the Chinese economy is in a vulnerable state currently, and there us growing unreat amongst the general populace. Think, stabbings, weaponized vehicle, arson. Whatever Xi does, it's to keep the economy on life support or to dispel the unrest.
