They got me at the vet when my dog broke his leg during an ice storm. I was an absolute wreck and they were telling me that he;d need surgeries and that normal bone re-setting wouldn't do.
I'm not going to be able to pay off the charges within 12 months. I'm going to get fucked with that 31% APR.

I have a lot of health issues and fell for this scam. Years later I'm still paying off all my medical debt and my credits been ruined. I live paycheck to paycheck. I feel like I've been scammed out of the American dream.

the part about CareCredit being offered right at the dental chair is the whole game – you're in pain, you're stressed, and they hand you a 26% APR card disguised as a payment plan. deferred interest is one of the nastiest tricks in consumer finance.

Something to consider: If you are in an area with a major university, dental school then consider going there for treatment. I saved thousands of dollars on a major crown and bridge procedure a few years ago by going this route. If you do not have the funds to afford it then use an exsisting credit card.
Avoid these medical/dental credit cards that are out there.

I was offered an interest free credit card when I hade my cataract surgery and wanted better treatment that Medicare didn't pay for. My part was $8000 and I got a 36 month interest free card and set up auto pay of 250/ month so it's paid off in 32 months, No fees, no interest. I did the same when i bought new house windows and the dealer set up a Synchronicity interest free card for 24 months and I set it up on auto pay and again no fees, no interest. Credit is only good if you use it responsibly. Sure I was issued a credit card but as soon as the interest free loan was paid I cancelled the cards. Just because you have a credit card you don't have to use it.

Care Credit is available in vet hospitals too, I worked at an emergency vet. One of the most predatory things I’ve had to do is talk to people in crisis over their pets to sign them up for the card because they couldn’t afford the exorbitant costs. It’s horrible.

Care credit is great when you need to make payments with no interest. It works well especially if you have pets who are sick. Sorry for those who were tricked. This card was helpful for me

Pay it and you'll have no interest. Don't charge what you can't afford to pay off. I've had care credit for 18 years. Never a problem.

had Care credit. had to use care credit to pay for emergency dentistry, but kept it around for mostly emergency vet visits. It's useful if you're smart with it.

I mean doesn't this come back around to insurance companies that get billions in subsidies every fucking year to deny claims? Yet I pay $800 a month for insurance and have a 15000 out of pocket max every fucking year so it comes out to 20k of my own money I pay and then still have to pay the bills before hand

I had a vet force me under duress to get carecredit and a payday loan or let my cat die🤬 I was getting paid that week and begged them for a promissory note with a good faith payment of a few hundred. They refused service unless I got the CC and loan.

No, in most of the first world, insurance is already unnecessary. Keep pushing for universal healthcare. Don't settle for this.
