"only in the 1970s could a belly button spark a national scandal." Who proofreads this crap?

Didn't both Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie have episodes featuring fictional scenarios about kids born to magical women? I might be misremembering. Also, no mention about the Stephen Foster song that starts "I dream of Jeanie with the light brown hair."

You forgot to mention that in the pilot epidide, Jeannie speaks in pure Persian: “Bande-ye goosh be farmān e to am, sarvar!”

It wasn't only Barbara Eden that couldn't show her navel. On Gilligan's Island Mary Ann and Ginger couldn't show theirs either.

It's too bad that Larry Hagman was so unhappy. I thought he did a great job. Good for Barbra for stopping the change. I never cared for the change in Darren on Bewitched

I loved this show and loved Jeannie and Tony’s chemistry. Say what you want about the wedding, I was always happy we got to see Jeannie get her guy.

I watched this show when it was on Nick at Nite. It wasn't a big favorite but my teenage self found it entertaining enough.

Bill Daily's reactions to Jeannie's hijinks were the funniest part. His character was the only one that had the license to react without seriousness.

In my opinion, “I Dream of Jeannie” had a unique edge over “Bewitched.” A key difference between the two shows was their comedic approaches. While “Bewitched” often found humor in Samantha's attempts to restrain her magic, only to use it to rectify the problems created by her family, “I Dream of Jeannie” took a different approach, thriving on Jeannie's overly enthusiastic and occasionally duplicitous use of her powers, which frequently led to chaos that she would then need to resolve.

Gene Nelson told me It was a lot more than drinking for Hagman. He was using hard drugs and hallucinogenics during filming and he wasn't able to get more than one take on many scenes as Hagman blew lines and changed lines that threw the film crew off. Hagman doesnt deny he was using at the time. It was the 60's. NBC also forced the writers to 'tone down" Jeannie;'s character.. In Season one she had a very active libido that By season two had totally disappeared. Also there was serious continuity issues with Jeannie. She was able to be photographed in several early episodes they changed that to 'Jeannie;s can not be photographed". No one had DVD/ VHS in 1969 to cross reference.

You left out the inconsistency that the first time Jeannie’s mother appears, she is played by a different actress, an older woman. It was later on, that Barbara Eden played her in the same role as her own mother.

Jeannie bottles sell for anywhere from resin knockoffs for $20 to over $2000 for licensed Barbara Eden versions .
Original Jim Beam whiskey decanters for $100 ish.

I never watched Dallas. In fact I hated it so much because Larry Hagman looked terrible and acted the total opposite of what I like him as in I Dream of Jeannie. The more popular the show became the more I hated it.

As for the cartoon series; SCREEN GEMS was the original distributor for HANNA-BARBERA cartoons like YOGI BEAR, and THE FLINTSTONES; HB did the opening animated credits for BEWITCHED, and ‘Samantha’ even made a guest appearance in Bedrock; this I likely why HB got the nod to do the ‘Jeanie’ cartoon; however, by 1970, the networks were very afraid of offending parent’s groups, and local stations, and prohibited anything appearing in children’s Saturday morning programming that could in any way be considered offensive or inappropriate for children; also, this was before home video or streaming, so very few network cartoons from this era got production runs of more than 16-22 episodes, as they were only intended to be run 1 or 2 seasons, at most…

I'd really appreciate it if the narrator didn't mispronounce the word "mischievous" as "mischiev-i-ous", a word which doesn't exist, but tends to be in common usage among ill-educated English speakers.

Barbara Eden also recently said there was an incident where Hagman went into a drunken tirade one time in front of a group of tourists that proved embarrassing.

Maybe they should have written in the Maj. Nelson married Jeannie's sister and she lost her powers and jeannie can still be genie and the sitcom would have lasted longer who would have thunk it I was only 5 years old so I could help then LOLOL😂
