I was 22 when this move dropped. I waited until it came out on VHS and made the mistake of watching this alone and in the dark. Needless to say, it was one of the most unnerving and unsettling films I'd ever watched. The hell scene got me, but not because of the gore, but because of the screams. I've watched it once since then and it was just as rough the second time.

Event Horizon is what happens when someone watches Hellraiser, then reads Solaris, fails to understand either of them, then gets drunk and decides to write a screenplay.
If the production design was on par with the script and direction, it would be "so bad it's good". But since the production design is actually pretty decent, the film as a whole is just so bad it's bad.

My dad and I went to see this when it was in theaters. We were both traumatized. I have never been able to look at Sam Neil without feeling slightly creeped out since.
