764-HERO – Weekends of Sound – ALBUM REVIEW
It’s time for an album review of the long out-of-print vinyl pressing of the 764-HERO album “Weekends of Sound” from Up Records released in 2000. I share some common themes from reviews written around the time of release, including similarities between other Pacific Northwest bands from the day like Modest Mouse and Built to Spill.

Very solid production on this album. I still enjoy it. These guys don't have that many truly great songs but the good stuff is really good.

Hey cool you did a review on this album– especially 25 years later! Got to see them play in boston with modest mouse maybe 96 or 97, and in nyc a few years after that. bought weekends of sound in seattle (i'm from maine) on a trip out west, where I also got to hang for a bit with my cousin (J. Atkins). I always was rather surprised that although the band toured the country regularly, they didn't seem to get more recognition…well one can certainly say they never sold out for radio time. lol. (Get here and stay) is another amazing album, as well as a couple releases from His side project (Magic Magicians) -saw them in Austin…. cheers

Great taste in music. I grew up in Seattle – graduated in ‘94. Went to school with Rocky Votolato, and Jake Snider of Minus The Bear. I have a bunch of early bootleg videos of 764-Hero, Death Cab and other bands from that era on my channel.

Andy, great review. I’ve been digging around the PNW for this record for a few years now. Love this album! If you ever find an extra one, I’d love to buy it from you.
