My mom bought me the white Epoch Man version from Service Merchandise in the 80s 👍🏻

I had this! I just found it in my junk drawer. I must have bought it with allowance money from BEST. Still in perfect shape with instructions and reflective, silver box. I purchased it in August of 1982 for $23. The instructions are copyright 1982. Two other notes – if you wait too long at the start, "Bigfoot" kicks you forward one spot. Also, when fighting the "scarey skeleton" (from the instructions), for every 4 hits you place on him, he backs up. I remember hitting him 2-3 times, then backing away and then coming back for the next 1-2 hits. There are 10 difficulty levels, one per board.

11:52 I think the Monster Panic start game tune is reminiscent of the stage 1 Donkey Kong arcade (a contemporary of Monster Panic) theme, though I think that is even a riff or blatant ripoff of another theme from a monster movie or something. Actually, before pressing the comment button now, I did a quick google search, and the DK stage 1 theme has a high similarity to the TV show theme of Dragnet.

For better reinforcement of plastics like this Epoch game, yes, supergluing in between the cracks is great, but using something like JB weld on the back side as well can make it even better.

Holy crap, watching your video, I realized, I've been playing it basically incorrect or at least a little too amateur my whole life. I never attack any of the monsters on the first levels. I just run straight to the skeleton and attack him. It does make it easier and less dangerous I suppose if you don't engage with the other monsters

I also wanted to comment, my version was working intermittently until I figured out that I had to sort of lightly bend the metal contacts inside the battery case outward a little bit so they made better contact with the batteries. Before I did that, the game would not stay on reliably, because those little metal prongs were not making contact with the little batteries. Now that I gently bend them out where it's, it works very reliably.

Hey Jon. These little Game & Watch from the 80s are always interesting, especially for the memories they bring back.
p.s. The background music is excellent.

I had this game back then – Yellow version, I can remember my older brother was also keen to borrow this game from me to play it.

60 for that? Even if it wasn't broken that's just nuts imo. Edit: im sure maybe someone could 3d print you a back? Or maybe fill the holes in with epoxy putty like Kneadite aka Green Stuff?
