A Northwoods montage: the Biondich Pack and other wildlife
A montage from last winter featuring some neat sequences of the Biondich Pack along with some fascinating wildlife clips…the up-close shot of the bobcat on the hunt is pretty cool!
The Biondich Pack was one of the largest packs in our area last winter at 7 wolves (the pack consisted of a breeding pair and 5 pups). The pack had 6 pups alive as of early December, which is why you see 8 wolves in the one night time clip.
However, one of those pups died shortly after that video which put the pack at 7 members for the rest of winter.
Big thanks to the Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund for their continued support of our work which allows us to capture and share this footage with everyone!

An injured coyote.
Wolves in the glory of winter undercoat, playful.
Though i've seen fishers and the smaller martens with their yellow chests, this one, seeming a fisher, was big& healthy – bet they grow seasonal coat increase, too!

Is the fella at 1:08 a fisher? Or is it something else?

All the gold and red orange in some of their coats is gorgeous. Wonderful video. Poor coyote…they are amazing survivors. Decades ago when I was in college in Tucson I would borrow a car and go out in the desert…found a place on a hill where I could watch a pack of coyotes hunt, sleep and play.

We are nothing like wolves.
We are harming vital carnivores by eating fellow animals.

Is that one wolf alone because of his leg?

I am always amazed by how so many four-legged animals get around just fine if they happen to lose one of those legs.

You were not kidding about the Bobcat hunting footage! Very cool indeed. Love watching footage from the game trails, hope that one limping wolf at the end was not to seriously injured.

That coyote looks like a victim of a leg trap. Paw is missing.
