We Went to Arkansas. The Farm Crisis Will Shock You
Farm debt is expected to reach $560 billion this year—a record high. But it’s not just because of the trade war with China. Farmers told us it’s because a handful of corporations have taken control of their markets to ensure they always win, and farmers barely break even.
Correction:
4:28 Bayer and Monsanto did not merge in 2015 during the Obama administration. The companies reached a deal for Bayer to acquire Monsanto in September 2016. The merger was approved by the first Trump administration in May 2018.

He voted for Huckabee’s AND Trump (probably 3x) and now he thinks neither is responsible. That dude is too dim witted to save.
I hope you enjoy the reality you voted for….and don’t try to tell me “it isn’t Trumps fault, it was the guy BEFORE him”.
I use your MAGA tears to wash my car.

I think farms should bypass the system. I would gladly pay per month for food. I would even donate my time to help. We are coming to a time where the world issues get solved from the bottom up. We can't vote ourselves out of this. I'm mechanically, electrically and technology inclined. This doesn't get fixed until we fix it. Governments aren't our friends nor do they care about us

I grew up on a family farm and by today's prices, I simply can't see how a farmer could make it, even by inheriting the land that he farms. Aside from the cost of land, the cost of fuel, equipment, seed and fertilizer is out of sight. Then your product (corn, soybeans, etc.) is subject to the whims of the market.

Farmers consistantly vote for the Epstien class and its corruption and greed because mom and dad told them to vote for greed and corruption. They also get massive bail outs from Taxpayer money so its a win win for them, NO Symapthy for them at all.

If you buy a tractor for half a million, you shouldn't be surprised by the results. It's all about more, more, more, instead of simply working harder with what you have. And now you're complaining that you can't handle money. At least that's something your farmers have in common with ours. Sure, you won't get rich with the smaller, older machines, but why become a farmer if you want to get rich? It's a contradiction in itself, and you deserve to end it.
Just like with this record potato harvest right now. "I can't get enough for them, so I'm throwing them away!" Yeah, screw you!
That's exactly why I'm becoming self-sufficient because I just can't stand the whining anymore. You've all dug your own graves and are looking for the fault elsewhere. "Sweep in front of your own door!" is what my dad would say.

Stop globalizing, stop conglomerating food. That’s why food is full of poison in the USA and Canada. This show shows why capitalism must be broken up to benefit everyone not just 4 global corporations.

We need to realize that the world is producing food with technology. Outside the US they paying 50 percent of what we are paying for equipment and parts. Plus what we pay for a grower houses is double and what they charge us for taxes. It's not a presidents fault. The world is beating us.

No, the farm crisis does not shock me. What shocks me is the farm community voting against their own self interests time and time again because culture war issues. If they want the rest of us to take them seriously, then they need to start voting for real issues and not gender fearmongering, stripping healthcare and rights from others, chasing off their own labor source lol, graduate level legal theories, and other stupid things. Get their head out of the church and paying attention to WHO is letting corporations rip the country apart – it's not just the farms… the problem is not enforcing anti-trust and anti-monopoly laws. Every farm person that voted republican for the last 60 years only has their fucking self to blame. They decided to shoot themselves in the foot every 4 years – now they are out of feet. Surprise surprise.
