I feel you on the lack of good rock and roll dude, that's why bands like Shinedown, Atomic Freak and Engines of Aggression give me hope still🤘🏾

Man that Neurosis album sucked if that’s a surprise I hope it came with a gift receipt cause I’d rather it just went back to the studio so fucking terrible 0/5 quite possibly one of the worst albums I’ve ever heard will definitely be the top of my worst of the year list
Love the channel great content thank you!! Just really hated that album

Two albums I expected in your video and you didn't disappoint.
Gaerea – Loss: I love this album. Really went from heavy and brutal to surprisingly good melodic stuff. I'm really looking forward to seeing them play in July.
Neurosis – An Undying Love for a Burning World. Hell yeah! Who would have thought these guys will be back with more punishing music and the addition of Aaron Turner from Isis?🤘🤘🤘

I really like the new Gaerea album. I don't like it as much as Coma or their so-far magnum opus Mirage, but it's still very, very great. I would be disappointed to see them go any further towards the modern metal, metalcore, Sleep Token space, but I think they've done an excellent job towing the line of infusing just enough of those elements into their sound while not feeling like a full abandonment of their core. So as long as this is roughly as far as they trend in this direction, I still think Gaerea are killing it.

I'll have to give it another listen, but the new Gaerea was a big disappointment for me. It seems like instead of sticking with their great sound, they are copying the sound of less interesting bands that they have recently toured with. The new Neurosis album, however, is excellent. Probably will end up being the best musical surprise of the year for me.

John I'm a longtime subscriber, I first have to say I thoroughly enjoy the podcast and the videos. It's nice to hear someone I can completely agree with when it comes to politics, that doesn't happen often. Anyway, I've been watching and listening for a while now and I don't recall hearing you mention Green Carnation. As a Prog fan if you haven't listened to them you really should listen to A Dark Poem, Pt. 1: The Shores of Melancholia. Part 2 is releasing in 10 days. It's definitely an album that will make you want to deep dive their back catalog. I would really like to hear your thoughts on them. Stay golden bro. Read philosophy listen to metal I love you

As always cheers for the recommendations. Have added a bunch to my list. I highly recommend The Silver – "Looking Glass Hymnal Blue". Sort of goth black/doom with some progressive elements. Does everything that the last release, the excellent "Ward of Roses" does, but to a higher lever. My early front runner for album of the year so far x

Via Dolores was a pleasant surprise. Gaerea is one of my favorite bands, heck I even have their logo from the masks tattooed on my thigh with a black sun around it. I love their earlier albums and Loss is a great album. But I agree with you after reading your review on Substack that I would have liked to have more Black Metal.

Loved the last Gutvoid album big doomy atmosphere with proggy elements. I like d how you clarified that proggy doesn't always mean shreddy. They obviously ca shred bt that isn't the focus. They continue to impress me a really god find

You never get correctly which album is "BIG" – how is Lost In Hollywood a "BIG" album, probably you're looking at some silly streaming number. Feels like you're trying to insult the countless grinding metal bands with some whining poppy metalcore sellouts
