Born in 1978 here and had two older sisters who greatly influenced music and movies. My sister Cindy would play her vhs of The Legend of Billie Jean while she was watching over me. Hits with nostalgia every time I see clips from it. I should really watch it start to finish again.
Now I’m 47 and I still rock out to Pat Benetar’s “Invincible” to this day.

Total tangent but oh my gosh listening to Keith talk about scooters … they were so popular in the 80s! I was in my early 20s and got a ride home with a coworker one night. I still remember his name … Jeff was a punker … we rode that scooter no helmets! It was wild. They were fun though I’m surprised
Keith didn’t ride it for more than a year.

I'm still waiting for the sequel to "The Legend of Billie Jean." What's it like in Vermont? We know they arrived there, Billie Jean and Binx, but what happened afterward. Will the story ever continue? It was such a cliffhanger. Honestly, I didn't want the movie to end.

Your video here made me watch this video again last night for free on Youtube. I was 15 when it came out and the summer of 1985 the video for Invincible was a huge video for MTV. I wanted to see it but I dont think my friends were interested. I saw most of it on HBO the following year. This was a good movie but the ending was bad. It needed reworked. This was a bomb at the box office which I did not realize. It only lasted in the theaters for 10 weeks. It was supposed to make everyone a huge star. Christian Slater's first movie though. Definitely a great lost movie of the 1980s

This really is a great lost movie of the 80s. Another one is Last American Virgin and Just One Of The Guys. Maybe you can do a dinner and a movie night for those movies

I think I posted it on the movie locations. With the little guy that turned in the VCR tape Billie Jean uncovering the motorcycle on the trailer. On her Ransom tape over and over it was repeated fair is fair I believe that was supposed to be the original name of the movie because I heard it had changed during or soon after filming

The newspaper Corpus Christi Caller Times advertise wanting everybody to go to the beach for the party they wanted a 5-year-old child which turned out to be the one that delivered the cassette tape to Ringwald. They also wanted a second story balcony over a pool. So the slide was their compromise. You can see the thought process of him jumping out the window into the water and apparently the pool was too far away. I believe they offered $50 and a place up front in the movie for any girl that cut her hair like Billie Jean

I noticed the guy with the camera at the waterfall mall scene. I think he was in the background when she was climbing over the rail on the opposite side of the waterfall. I came back and edited it you can actually see him in this video on the clip

I have to go watch it now, again. I love that your background looks like the Mrs. Garrett’s, store “Over Our Heads” in the later seasons of. The Facts of Life.

I was an extra in this film. It was amazing hanging out with the cast!! And it was a lot of fun. I even got paid $393 lol. Those were the days!! Christian Slater was a sweetheart and Helen Slater was as well. Actually, all of the girls were super funny and the crew was sweet.

This is actually a fascinating movie,it was made during a time that seemed fascinated with rebel culture.
Every decade had a rebel culture vibe,of course, but the 1980’s had its own flavor.
The 80’s was so famously defined,in film and real life,by the popular versus the unpopular,be it Jocks or nerds or punks(Refer to the secretary from Ferris Bueller for the full rundown of the subgroups).
These types of films, they spoke to so many, who were afraid to break away from the culture that pressed into the cult of popular, they encouraged individuality at a time when it was cooler to conform to the new things,MTV was a huge motivator, and,in fact, helped melt down late punk era music culture into new-wave culture.
This is not a bad thing,as punk will always survive, but new-wave helped many to be able to more specifically define their rebellion.
Nerd culture began to become a cool subculture unto itself, thanks to rebel 80’s culture.
Like the roots of a tree, pop culture, truly ,for the first time, exploded into a million paths.
Everyone had a cultural home to go to.

Thank you for another great podcast. Will we get to see the dinner portion of the night? 'The Lost Boys' or 'Heathers' are both favorites of mine. Could it be fake dormers and they just added the spiral stairway to play off that? This would also explain the single story today.
