Mshangao is a beautiful name and he should have kept it. It's sad that some rich person with their fat checkbook gets to let their kid (because what adult would name an animal Jigsaw!) rename an animal who already had a beautiful and appropriate name. Ridiculous. I guess money talks πŸ™

I've watched several episodes of The Zoo on Animal Planet and am very impressed with the conservation work they perform and the tender and professional care they give to the animals there. The curators and staff seem to be very tuned in to how the animals feel and what they're thinking. I know, it's their jobs, but still …..

I wonder why the Bronx Zoo change the male giraffe name from Mshangao that the Indy Zoo gave him when he was birth to "Jigsaw".! Why would they change his first name to something else because he already had a name when his mom gave birth at the Indy Zoo…I can say I'm not a fan of watching animals from any zoo in the U.S. move to another zoo. Because, what's wrong with letting the animals stay at the zoo that they were born at and be with their family like parents, their cubs or calf for the rest of their life. But I know the reason, it is conservation! Still not a fan…Can the animals decide if they don't want to move to another zoo or not? I doubt it.

Bronx zoo 6 acres?? Lots of the species roam over many miles in the natural habitat. Look I know there are some positive. Getting people to appreciate animals and then maybe help protect the natural environment. That's great. But these animals need space to be β€œhappy” zoo are limited to provide all the animals requirements Please don't believe this is the best for them. It's not

I love that people start to care for these wonderful animals after seeing them HOPEFULLY AT THE ZOO. I Live in Toronto Canada SO I GO TO MY ZOO and we have three mother & father and a baby. I think we have a different species of GIRAFFE at the Toronto Zoo. there are many different species.

I try so hard to understand the benefit of zoos housing wild animals.
In my heart, I believe Mother Nature meant for them to roam free and not be in prison like enclosures.
Does anyone else feel this way?
