Jon Bon Jovi’s Voice Is Raising Serious Questions
Jon Bon Jovi’s voice has been a defining sound in rock music for decades. But after a recent live performance started circulating online, many fans are concerned about what they’re hearing.
In this video, Patrick and I take a closer look at Jon Bon Jovi’s recent live vocals and discuss… is it time to stop? Would we go see him live? And is it okay to question a singer’s vocals that are obviously due to age and usage issues?
This isn’t about tearing anyone down — it’s about having a real discussion as fans of rock music. Jon Bon Jovi has given us decades of incredible songs, legendary live performances, and unforgettable moments. But right now, we have serious questions.
What do you think?
Is it time to quit?
What should the band do during live performances?
Can he still tour at a high level?
What does this mean for future Bon Jovi concerts?
Let’s talk about it in the comments.

I’ve been a Jon Bon Jovi fan for decades — this video isn’t about tearing him down. It’s about having an honest conversation as fans.
After hearing these recent live performances, I genuinely want to know:
Do you think it's time to stop?
Would YOU go see Bon Jovi now if the opportunity was there?
What does the future hold for Bon Jovi?
Let’s keep it respectful in the comments. I’m really curious what you all think.

I have thought a lot about this. And here is what I think. First of all, this clip is downright terrible. Period, However, I wonder how many people went and watched the entire set. It wasn't half bad. I was pretty ashamed of myself for jumping to the conclusion that it was all that bad. Because it was not. The music he is writing today, he CAN sing. He needs to say good bye to the old stuff that he just can't do anymore (saying this devastates me because "It's My Life" is my absolute number one favorite of his, but I digress). His abilities have shifted now and 98% of what he is writing now sounds really pretty good. I would pay to go see him live. But you have to retire the stuff you just can't do anymore. I know it is painful, and I know its not fair, it just is what it is. Now, as for Richie, Richie is hurting right now. He lost his mother and that was his support system. He has climbed into a bottle and he is slinging mud every direction he can. I don't for a minute think Jon or anyone on his team tried to block his solo career. Jon wasn't mad at Richie, he was broken by his actions, completely devastated and after the tour didn't even pick up his guitar for a year (these are his words from an interview) He couldn't understand why and Richie really hurt him. Like ripped his guts out and twisted before shoving them back in. Richie is and always has been up and down on the rollercoaster of stability. We have all always loved him anyway and the fans loved and supported him. They still do! ALWAYS. BUT, he and Jon together made the most beautiful music. They were angelic in their capabilities to harmonize with each other. They had what was equivalent to a 30 year "marriage" and it was beautiful for the music and for the fans and probably for them. They both had ups and downs, they are both human. There are 2 stories about why Richie up and left the way he did. One, it was for his daughter. Totally get that, can't blame anyone for taking care of their family. But the way he did it was so wrong and because of the way he did it, it leads me to believe the second story. They were in the studio recording and he showed up hours late only to find out that Shanks (I think) had already done the recording for Richie's part. Because it needed to be done and Richie didn't show up until hours later than he was supposed to. Richie got his ego in a twist (which is understandable, but talk it out dude!) but didn't say anything and decided well if they don't need me, I'll just go. I think he regrets that decision to this day, but his ego wouldn't let him move on. So he ended a really beautiful partnership, collaborative team, whatever you want to call it and it became rock history. What I would absolutely love to see from both Jon and Richie, is an attempt to rebuild the burnt bridge. Just get together, hang out, harmonize a little bit, and remember that they were on the same ride for 30 years and maybe, just maybe have a really open and honest talk about what happened and why. They need to heal this rift between them because it is obvious to the entire world that it is still excruciating for both of them. So if any of Jon's or Richie's people, or Jon or Richie themselves happen to see this post, maybe you can make something happen and they can make a memory, a spark of the old friendship. Even if they don't ever play together again, (which the whole world would love to see), the world would also love to see them forgive and forget before it is too late. Life is short, and this will definitely go in the regret column if it doesn't get resolved before one of them leaves this earth. And there you have it. The unsolicited opinion of a die hard fan of 40+ years who grew up with these guys and still feels like they are family.

He's literally got an implant in one of his vocal folds. It's never gonna be the same.

I think fans want the original singer for the memories and the overall voice. I think a decent compromise, when possible, is to use technology to refine the problem parts through live auto-tuning. That, and a few breaks with other singers for some of the less known songs.

Sadly age claims us all, honestly jon had his time to reign in the rock world and he did so brilliantly for a very long time but he's aged out now just like all of them, Vince, Geoff, Joe, Sebastian, Brett hell pick anyone of them none of them sound good live anymore they all killed it in the 80's and 90's i mean some of them even into the 2000's but after fifty it's time to hand the reigns to the youth of today. I love them all but now I wouldn't see any of them now live. He's done, needs to retire and just chill out now.

I agree. I don't think he sounds very good.. but the weird thing to me was his enunciation. I couldn't understand a single word he sang in Livin On A Prayer. Obviously I know the words, but if I didn't.. it'd sound like he was singing in a different language.

I have tickets for Wembley in September. I am really worried that it won't be what I remember the old Bon Jovi to be. I've seen them live about 6 times before in the 1990's and 2000's and they were fantastic. Jon's vocals were always great. That clip you showed is so sad seeing him struggling. I wonder if perhaps I shouldn't go and just keep the memories of previous concerts instead. 😢

He sounds dreadful. His wife needs to have a quiet word! He should concentrate on writing and producing, he hasn’t lost the talent, just the ability to vocalise. Ego is a powerful master.

I would love to see Bon Jovi. I seen him 7800 degree tour long ago. As fare as voice aging, well Def Leppard doesn’t sound the same, not like Hysteria tour, Tesla from same Hysteria tour yet even them still today and they still rock. Jon we rather see and enjoy let us give you a final cheer

Remember in 1994 when Jon Bon Jovi fired Alec John Such because Alec's "bass playing sucked?" Would 1994 Jon Bon Jovi allow 2026 Jon Bon Jovi to tour?

It's sad. I've been lead signer on a bonjovi cover band 2000-2007. I stop and cancelled all shows when I realised I can't sing anymore.
It's all about vocal techniques that destroy your vocal cords. The last show I did, I went where nobuddy can see me and puke. I was signing 'Thank you for loving me'. Before that I sang 'wright side of wrong and a few hits (you give love a bad name and Dry county) These notes are hard to reach .
I understand that he can't sing anymore. Middle range notes are not comming out anymore.
Few days ago, in 2026, I sang Aerosmith I dont want to miss a thing. No problem at all.
Then I tried Angel from Robbie Williams. It was a disaster.
The problem of Bonjovi, or anyone who sings his songs for a while, you destroy your vocal cords in the middle range. After that you can sing hi, low but not in the middle.
Hope this comment useful

People who says he still sounds good is either deaf or is just a hardcore fan who can't accept the truth. He's lost it and it's all good. And if he has real care of his fans, he should just stop doing it. He doesn't sound anywhere near. Someone has to give it to him. It's done. He does not have it anymore.

I'm the same age as John, 64, and I sing in a band too. I sing better now than when I was in my 20's!
I'm lucky, but I never sang 2 nights in a row, and from 45 to 62 I didn't sing at all because I was working nights.
Also, I didn't scream at the top of my voice 3 or 4 times a week for 30 yrs like Jon did!!
Singers like Jon, Steve Perry, and Brian Johnson AC/DC invariably blow their voices out!!
