    I’m with MC. I think The Thing is a better movie but I love watching Big Trouble in Little China. It’s tied as my favorite movie with Jaws. I’ve I was stuck in an island with one movie to watch, it’d be BTiLC.

    I think the easiest way to contextualize the movie is that it's told from the perspective of the sidekick comic relief who thinks he's the hero. Up until the climax Wang does all the heavy lifting and he's the center of the hero's journey.

    I recently re-watched this and immediately wanted to buy it on blu ray. I was kicking myself for never adding this to my collection. I just watched this so many times as a kid I burned myself out but was surprised how good it still is as an adult.

    @1:55 WE HEAR ……………………..Jerusalem syndrome is a psychological phenomenon characterized by the sudden onset of intense religious delusions, obsessive religious thoughts, or psychotic symptoms in individuals visiting Jerusalem, often without a prior history of mental illness.

    It is not officially recognized in major diagnostic manuals like the DSM-5 or ICD-11, but it is well-documented in clinical literature and associated with a unique religious context.

    The syndrome is classified into three types: Type I affects individuals with pre-existing psychiatric conditions, Type II involves those with non-psychotic mental disorders or fixed ideas, and Type III, the most well-known form, occurs in previously mentally stable individuals who develop psychosis after arriving in Jerusalem, typically resolving after a few weeks or upon leaving the city.

    Symptoms of Type III include identification with biblical figures, compulsive cleaning, wearing white garments, shouting religious texts, and delivering sermons at holy sites, often driven by a perceived gap between an idealized image of Jerusalem and its real-world reality

    I always thought the rock would be another trucker on the other end listening to jacks story then checks out little china himself and meets up with egg maybe battling another one of lopans loose demons
