UVI Falcon And Friends – The Kontakt Killer?

Benn Jordan | March 13, 2026

Here is a nearly exhaustive hour exploring UVI’s offerings in sample libraries and their deep, powerful softsynth flagship. I chose Augmented Piano, World Suite, and of course Falcon to see what they’re up to. Time Stampz:

Augmented Piano: 6:23
World Suite: 13:26
Falcon: 27:21
Autosequenced world patch: 50:00
Crazy bowed string generative patch: 55:52
Conclusion: 56:36

Can you make a video only about all the enveloping features of UVI Falcon? I'm wanting a bezier curve editor with handles instead of the limited and unnatural cubic curves in Kontakt. Not sure if Falcon has bezier curves.

BBC commentator approach to debate and discussion is so off the mark it's incredible. Their line comes across as anti-freedom of choice and free speech. If they carry on with this tone there won't be a BBC because a lot of people will just switch (I did years ago). But hats off to Konstantin, he's brilliant at arguing.

Watching this 5 years later because I'm trying to figure out if I want to buy Falcon (currently on sale), and I'd say that any decent synth is a Kontakt killer 🙂 except for a relative handful of unique made-for-Kontakt libraries (in my case, from Luftrum and a few other developers). And in that sense nothing can "kill" Kontakt, as long as developers keep making libraries for this non-resizeable archaic monstrosity.

Still not convinced about Falcon though – if PhasePlant added per-oscillator keygroups, it might just be the best middle ground for me. As an old-time coder, I'd love to try Falcon for the many sequencers (each could and should be a standalone plugin, I'd buy them all) and for the Lua scripting, but the layers – upon layers – upon layers design isn't giving me a "use me, I'm fun" vibe 🙂

I've only just got Falcon. I've not tried Halion, but suspect things are similar there. NI have been lazy. Kontakt still feels like it did with version 2 15 years ago. You can do so much more with Falcon. Also, I'm loving Midi out. (I use Reaper, which means I can have multiple Midi out channels controlling multiple synths. And while the built in analog and wavetable oscillators aren't bad, being able to layer up Falcon's more sample-based oscillators with e.g. Serum, Diva, or Pigments, means that I can use Falcon as a single MIDI processor for all my synths. I'm especially stoked to get my hands dirty with the Lua event scripting.)

Hi Benn, you mentioned it's possible to add soundbank presets into existing keygroups as an alternative to simply adding them into the multi as an additional program, is this correct? I've been trying to figure it out myself but no joy, would be incredibly useful if that's actually possible. Thanks!

I've had the UVI Workstation stuck in my DAW for years with no sounds and then today I got a free bundled UVI German Grand Piano with a Presonus Faderport, loaded it up and it sounded superb. Now I hear the Falcon calling me and you're not helping me! Only problem is we're not talking peanuts for AVI stuff, it's very expensive. I don't know why but I just don't like the Native Instruments model, seems like the Apple model were you have to totally commit to their product and buy into the whole concept rather than sharing it around. So I have a strong feeling Falcon might be the way to go later. Great video, love the dry humour, it's almost British! 😎

I just recently became a Falcon 2.5 user, and actually stumbled across this video when researching whether to add a second-hand license of World Suite 1 to my arsenal. Even though it has been upgraded to v2, v1 still seems like a great tool, so you made that decision an easy one for me!

    I. can't. Stop. laughing. I've run down decent size firestorms in initial attack and haven't been able to laugh for a long time. Got lyme's disease and had to reteach myself to speak in a basement in alaska with some vhs whirr going on. Inspired to throw down. I'm clay with too much water rn, but thanks. Brilliance takes endurance and stamina. There's no biological reason for a 24 hour sleep cycle.
