In this AVGN the Nerd covers Chex Quest, a pack-in game for Chex Cereal from 1996. This is Angry Video Game Nerd episode 171. Chex Quest is a non-violent first-person shooter video game created in 1996 by Digital Café as a Chex cereal promotion aimed at children aged 6–9 and up. It is a total conversion of the more violent video game Doom (specifically The Ultimate Doom version of the game).

Just in case folks don't know… They remade the game for HD to be compatible on modern computers FOR FREE on Steam. You can go download it right bow, and as someone who is ancient enough that I HAD the original back in the day: It's even better. Seriously.

This was great as a kid because if you had a friend with strict parents who wouldnt let them play DOOM cause of the violence, this was a perfect substitue.

The first Chex quest is HD remastered with mouse capabilities now on steam. Was released 5 years ago
