The Tyson Situation In Nebraska Just Got Worse…
Tyson is about to fire 50% of Lexington, Nebraska’s workforce in one of the largest plant closures in decades.
We talked to experts, workers and local residents who have a radical idea to save American beef production: government takeover of the plant.

It’s going to have a drastic ripple effect and the town will most likely die. Best to get out now and move to where there are jobs. Or start a cattle farm to keep the plant open.

The state government should tell Tyson to sell the plant, or they'll take it under eminent domain and reopen as a government owned plant. Saving jobs, a community, and lowering food prices is a public good.

Chicken prices are out of control as well as the beef.

It's a very hard situation to go from working 84 hrs a week to nothing and due to high production no time for anything outside of family and sleep yet alone a day for job hunting

It is time we institute a policy of regional economics. Across the board. Regional/local manufacturing, agriculture, services, shopping, health care deal with the provider directly (cut out the health insurance administrators) and so on… imagine the boost to the local ranchers, farmers, service industry…..

Donald Trump is already fixing this! He is arranging for beef to be imported from Argentina so these unemployed workers can still eat steak….. if they can afford it.

Why are red states so surprised when the dollar is more valuable than people?
Church and state are separate, and Trump is not the way to the father
Maybe this will be a turning point. And nebraskins will learn to vote blue if you care more about your community then Trump's dollars.

Making Uncle Sam the burger man is insanity…he will pick who gets the beef and who doesn't. They did that in the USSR..it lead to empty shelves and long lines. Better to just break the companies up into smaller firms or let the rancher/farmer coops run them. And get the Chinese and Brazilians out of the business.

Big players driving small players out of business. I thought anti-trust laws were to protect us from monopolies. Politicians are bought and paid for by lobbyist. I know, from personal experience, the corporations control pricing. They tell retailers what to sell products for to the consumer. Do you see any big sales anymore during the holidays? I sure did not! No big displays of soft drinks, or chip, etc for the 4th of July or any other holiday. GREED, GREED, GREED. I looked at cereal prices…OMG….need windfall taxes!!!!!
@ILHillbilly67
March 7, 2026 at 5:09 am
No the supplier beef is not down and the ranchers can’t actually sell the beef for what Tyson is asking because they will lose money or so. Tyson needs to bring the prices up because lo and behold they have been posting record profits ever since Covid and I mean anywhere between 15 to 20% year over year or so. The price of beef is because the four pack or two of which are owned by China are the ones making all the money not the Rangers. This is all an effort to get out of country beef into the US, and for even bigger profits
@kathysanders3915
March 7, 2026 at 5:09 am
