the part that creeped me out was when Robin Williams' character breaks into the family's house, and the family's dog approaches him. I thought that the dog would growl, but the dog instead is wagging his tail. It makes me sure that the character has been stalking this family for years and has been breaking into their home to the point that the dog knows him.

It wasn’t suicide it was an accident. Quick thing he had 3 movie contracts and left no note. He was also found hanging from the doorknob of the bedroom door, which is commonly done for autoerotia asfixiation. He also had done a movie previously called father of the year where his son dies from that. David Carridine also died this way. The family just didn’t want the embarrassment associated with that act.

When you were debating about putting this in Monster Madness, you can make the argument that Robin Williams's character Sy is a monster as he not only fantasizes about being in that family, he stalks them and actively at that. The movie shows that not all monsters are born, some are made like with Sy when he tells the cops about his traumatic childhood

This movie made me feel bad in a way I can't even describe, just like… wrong… there is no other movie that did that to me. I never even finished it.

I disagree on the mugshot at the beginning being a mistake, I think it's important to set up that this film has a dark and complicated ending to set the tone for the movie as a whole. That from the off we should have our defences up about this guy and how far he might take things.

Part of the reason I grew so [shrug] over FB, IG and even online dating – there's seldom (for obvious reasons)any imperfection to balance out such rosey, shrink-wrapped and often humbling depictions of human life.

I watched somewhere that between takes, he had to vent his usual energy by making jokes and fooling around with everybody, like he couldn't play such an understated role if he didn't do that.
By the way, that nightmare scene is the fuckest up thing I've ever seen in a movie. The most effective jumpscare imho: non-horror film, only one instance.

This movie is a masterpiece. The look of the store and Robin's character. Every shot gives you a strange vibe. I was young when I saw that movie, it had a huge impact on me.

A gray example of someone who is the polar opposite of me, I'm so estranged from the typical family life that not only does it not seem interesting, but it actually repels me.

The character is plausible when you think about it. The creepy factor perfectly makes violence and gore unnecessary. Most people don’t realize Robin as well as many other comedians struggle with depression.

This film is truly brilliant. I didn't watch it upon release (because I worked in the photo lab) and I felt it would depress me. Years later I saw it on syfy (?) Late at night. Turns out: yes.

Went out to buy Donnie Darko back in the day they had by one get one deal with One Hour Photo. If it wasn't for that I probably would've never heard of this movie

I just saw the film and I'm surprised how ebery review paints Sy as a villain, while in fact he is the hero who sets out to keep the family toghether. His personal tragedy of course is the real story reflected in his struggles to find his place, but it seems the movie was more marketable as a thriller.

Love this movie. I just got done watching a movie that is just like this called The Last Showing with Robert Englund. It's set in Englund and in a movie theater. Robert plays a guy name Stuart and he went off the deep end. Check it out if you haven't already.
