I think what he wants to say is that y'all have agency too. Instead of saying "Make him do it." you should say "what can I do to change this next time"

Jon is wise not to show his hand, because he would paint a giant target on his back. The way the USA is now that would end his political career prematurely, not only by orange attacks, but also by one of the crazies with guns.
One way to avoid that is to show himself as a sharp shooter and be as respectful to his weapon as they are in Canada, Finland, Switzerland or Israel. After the Alex Pretti shooting and the following gun remarks, the NRA may switch sides.

In real debates Jon often makes a cute joke and changes the subject when he’s proven wrong on an issue. He only seems smart as the host because he controls all of the variables
