Tariffs can be used as a useful tool to protect domestic industry or to serve as a punitive measure against another country. But President Trump’s bluster and threats of imposing tariffs on foreign imports to the US have raised the specter of a trade war with China, and more recently, Mexico.
The “weapons” used in a trade war are the stuff we use everyday — the food we eat, the cars we drive to work and the computers we use. If a trade war can have such a pervasive impact on our daily lives, why would a country choose to engage in one? And what even is a trade war anyway?

It's funny how US thinks it can actually win against China on trade war. China was already trading even before US became a country. They had wisdom as an arsenal and smaller countries are looking at who to align themselves with and self sustain.

Trade wars are like playing chicken with the global economy—whoever flinches first loses, but everyone gets hurt in the process. Is it worth the risk?

Looking back when the Trump-led trade wars started to the chaotic current days….
I think what's going on is that the changes (rising emerging markets, technological advancements, richer foreigners, etc. ) happening around the world and within the US are going too fast that
1. it's become very hard for the people to catch up and
2. getting harder for corporations and other special interests in the US to control them.
The trade wars are irrational and self-destructive, but overall, it seems that the ultimate goal is to slow down the changes so that the people can catch up and for corporations/special interests to latch on better control over it.

What about the fact that China is a comminist state and the reason their economy is growing is by stealing western inventions and manufacture it in their country with cheaper labor and then sell it globally in lower cost.. It doesn't happen in democratic countries because cheap labor can't be inforced.
