The Life, Death and Resurrection of Lawnchair Larry | Tales From the Bottle

Qxir | February 23, 2026

The topics in Tales From the Bottle videos, while bizarre to a comical extent, too often end in tragedy. This story is no different, but maybe this time the tears are bittersweet. This is the story of Lawnchair Larry

“On July 2, 1982, Larry Walters made a 45-minute flight in a homemade airship made of an ordinary patio chair and 45 helium-filled weather balloons. The aircraft rose to an altitude of over 15,000 feet (4,600 m) and floated from the point of takeoff in San Pedro, California, into and violating controlled airspace near Los Angeles International Airport. During the landing, the aircraft became entangled in power lines, but Walters was able to safely climb down. The flight attracted worldwide media attention and inspired a later movie and imitators.”

Remember – you are loved! Jesus loved you and gave his life so that you could be free because of Him! He died for our sins so that we can be reconnected with our Creator God. At His crucifixion Jesus took all our wrong thoughts words or deeds we ever did to the cross, paying for them. This is because our sins separated us from Him, and sin's punishment is death. While we could do nothing to get back to God, He sent His Son so that we could get back to Him. He rose again three days later proving His power over sin and death, and He is returning soon to bring all His believing children to Heaven when He returns, and let those who reject Him choose the only other destination (Hell).

He wants us to choose life. He gives us the choice to follow Him right now and have Heaven when He returns, and a true relationship with Him now. He wants us all to repent of our sins and receive a new life in Him!

A life of strength, faith, and the ability to truly love others as God has loved us. He wants us to follow Him, and let Him be the Lord of our lives. Why is that part important? Because through Christ we will be given the power to overcome sin in our lives today and to love like He does. Christ offers this blessing to all who choose to believe in Him, trust Him and follow Him xx He will never leave you nor forsake you xxx

4:06 lol that literally wouldn't do anything to him. He would need to be touching the wires and the ground or something that leads to the ground. Electricity flows through the easiest conductor to the earth not just whatever touches it 😊

So here' my plan: when I get around to doing the 9 doses of Owsley I've had stored in my freezer since 1970 I'll do the Lawnchair Larry. It'll be nice. What could go wrong?

As interesting as this story is with respect to his crazy adventures, it’s also very heartbreaking, I couldn’t help but feel as if I was Larry. Carrying that feeling of having wanted to be a somebody and achieve great things, only to live a mediocre life with little success and ultimately taking his own life. The kind of sadness he must have felt really got me. RIP man

1:10 I've watched enough of Nic's videos to know they should have let him fly anyway. He probably would have gone on to earn a Medal of Honor in peacetime, a Navy Cross while having dinner with the president, and invent a new air warfare doctrine.
